Do you think Houston based employees will be preferred over San Ramon for a position if qualifications are the same? Do we think CVX will be willing to pay for SR people moves? This is so stressful, I just wish they would have announced the lower level orgs. The unknown is stressful to everyone, just let us know the jobs and stop keeping us in limbo.

San Ramon employee here.
I have 20 year tenure and promoted last year. As a poster above said about SR… I will never go to Houston. Waiting for AEOI to start and hope they let me go. Unfortunately too young to retire.
The SR’s will never…I repeat, never go to Houston.
San Ramon vs Houston employees is not going to be as much of a factor as US vs overseas. The question being asked is Why CAN’T we do the job overseas? I’ve heard this from different managers so this is the question asked higher up.
Move to Houston for how long? 1,2,3,4 years? Then what?
This company is either going bankrupt or it will lay off everybody but MW.
"Good performers" in SR? I thought SR was nothing more than cronies and California-holdouts?
All things held equal an employee in HOU is cheaper. The writing has been on the wall for CA jobs moving for 15+ years. SR has been a slow game of musical chairs with people resisting and the move every time. Now when the music stops there won’t be any chairs around that table and it will be harder to run to the HOU table where others there have had more time to get to it, unfortunately. I made the move in 2015. Wish I had sooner.
I would find it hard to believe that they won't relocate SR employees to Houston. They have shown they did it in the past, and if you are a strong performer and have a good relationship with your function and really want to make Houston work, they will make it happen. We're NOT broke. I know several people that will be moved.
Yes. Saving money is the goal. There will be some San Ramon employees who will be selected to move to Houston. Keep in mind most positions in Houston are short term (about 5 years). Most positions will be overseas within 10 years. Looking for another company might be the less stressful option. Good luck.
EB must have gone to acting school to muster up those crocodile tears when she was on stage….
I don’t think chevron will move people from San Ramon into short term jobs. I would not say it’s a preference of Houston over San Ramon, the staffing goal is to eliminate any job from the USA that can be performed by a person in a lower cost country.
The San Ramon people may be used as transition jobs while the work is moved overseas.
That will also give people time to look for new jobs and therefore forfeit their severance when they accept a new role.
The irony of E "diddly dee potatoes" B's fake emotions makes this situation even more stressful. I've been walking on a bed of nails ever since 2015 - cruel leadership.
