Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

No more mass layoffs at MS?

It feels like there has been a change in strategy at MS - no more massive layoffs every year, a switch to exploiting attrition now. Am I the only one noticing this?
Prior to 2020 it was like a clockwork - massive layoffs between December and March, but now just crickets. No layoffs in December and none expected soon still. Are they just trying to save on severance now, waiting for you to leave on your own? No more 6-figure packages for happy quiet quitting employees? What a calamity.

Hahahaha feel bad for y’all but it happens every year…count on it. No strategy change!

The OP is right. We used to call it the annual culling and have "go bags" ready for the call. The worst ones were in the festive season but the regular ones were about a month after comp day. But it's been against pattern since the large cut and now there's this weird forever headcount freeze. Not quite sure what is going on, have them moved to a super mass culling every 5 years instead?
