Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Control what you can control

We all know that these perpetual layoffs are disruptive and demoralising.

We also know that the application process is largely ceremonial and performative motions.

We are told to control what we can control.

What would happen if, collectively, none of us posted for roles in the new structure? If we all failed to apply?

The whole process assumes that there will be more applicants than there are roles. But there is absolutely nothing forcing us to go through their process. If none of us applied, there would be far more roles than applicants, and the balance of power would shift.

I left Chevron a couple years ago. Quit in disgust in my mid-50s without having another job after getting scapegoated for something. If you leave big oil you can expect to take a 15-25% pay cut. But now that I'm settled in at a new place, I'm in such a better state of mind. Take the package, trim your lifestyle, move on, and be happy.

To some it’s the end of the rainbow and others will take a severance and move on to a new chapter with another company. Then there are those that will continue on and do well and make it to the next cycle. Whatever stage you are in, I wish the best for all. It’s been a great ride for me, even with a few bumps in the rode and some inc@mptetent
Man@gement.

Hoping, and expecting, they get many more EOIs than they bargained for. I don’t think they realize how unhappy people are with the culture and direction. They’re keeping it quiet but even leaders are leaving. Ever wonder why we have no reliable succession plan for MW. Yep.
