Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Thank you Chevron

For a couple decades of good pay and benefits, a fat pension, work travel for me and my family, and then cap it all off with a very nice severance package. I was lucky to go to work for this Company, very lucky. Thank you Chevron!

So, some old timers state that they have been through 'regular' downturns/mass layoffs and MANY reorgs, layoffs - yet they state that they have had a successful 20-30 year run. Okay, now which one is the true statement? If you have personally NOT been laid off and unemployed, then you have NOT been through mass layoffs and reorgs. You have just survived, but have zero first-hand experience. Please, just take your self-congratulatory statements somewhere else.

Milked, LOL, I've put my head down and worked and saved. I've worked 12 and 16hr shifts for 50 days straight, both nights and days. I've mentored dozens of new employees, I've even, get this, had to show up to work 4 days a week, if you can believe it.

It’s classless to go to a layoff website and boast about your 401k and how you milked chevron

@b2+1jm08jhn7 LOL, Entitled much? You realize that all of us "old timers" Have been thru MANY of these re-orgs, lay offs etc.......Don't think we didn't have house payments, kids, car payments etc.......I'm gonna go on a limb here and say you're a Gen Z or Millennial.
That being said, thank for the kind farewell, I will take my 3M 401K, and 1.3M pention, and
hope for the best for you young kids, well, maybe not you!

To @b2+1jm08jhn7,
You think every old timer didn’t just spend a career worrying about these things? Heck yes we did, regular downturns/mass layoffs, etc, etc.
But who tells their employees months in advance, and then offers a very generous severance package? Yeah, Chevron…It’s still a big corp, but comparatively speaking and over a range of industries, Chevron is being generous.
Too bad there won’t be too many roles left that will take an employee and their family (to some BEAUTIFUL locations!). But it’s still better than many.

No one cares about long-timers who had a good 20-30 year run with a ton of cash. Just go away. There will be thousands with 1-5, 5-10, 10-15 years who will lose their jobs and worry about how to take care of their family. House payment, car payment, health insurance, food, school/college expense, and everything else. There will probably be 1000 or more let go in Houston. Go talk to those people. Chevron is not the only company cutting their staff. This is the kind of stuff that breaks up a marriage.

Same, over 3 decades with Chevron. Got married, raised a family and now grandchildren. I really enjoyed the early years and I have seen the company go through different stages. I was able to work in many different BU’s and it was great working with the people.

Congrats honestly to those that have the years and can relax a bit more than others. Hope you all find something even better than the good old days of Chevron.

I’ll second that. It’s too easy to focus on the negatives, but in the bigger scheme of things, we are very lucky.

Couldn't agree more, if you had LTIP, you are in the top 3 percent of the country in terms of $$$. Can't say I'm all that valuable externally but I don't need to be.
