@OP. Interesting article, thanks. Only time will tell if Nissan can turn around the company, but I doubt it. The brand is losing market share, like Ford. That is enough to tell anyone something is not right in these companies.

"Ghosn studied engineering at École des Mines de Paris after growing up in a tough environment in the developing world, where he dealt with constant illness from unsafe drinking water. He started at Michelin in research and development, working his way up from the bottom. When the company was struggling in Brazil during hyperinflation, he pulled off what seemed impossible and turned it around.

By any standard, he’s a genius, with the skills, experience, and instincts needed for the job. On top of that, he has a rare mix of citizenships, connections, and languages that make him even more valuable. Even his escape from Japan was unbelievably well-executed, with the perfect team of experts making it happen."

Did you just write a puff piece?
How much do you make per sentence?
What does making a car having anything to do with "mix of citizenships"?
It would be more relevant if he had a large mix of engineering degrees.

at this point i feel like a rising stock price after a crisis should be a major red flag for long term corporate survival

carlos ghosn was able to turn nissan around but i think it came at the expense of future product capabilities

also i don’t think anyone could have known what a long term winning play looked like 10 to 15 years ago when the damage was done

it takes a lot of effort and money to make a mediocre automobile it takes a lot more to make a high quality one
