Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Is 15% - 20% the largest ever layoff?

In Chevron's history? Long timers, any insights?

you are on the bitter side today... Sorry you feel this way, but insulting other people does not bring you above us. It only validates your low self esteem.

20% is on the high side for sure. Usually 5-10% which is easy.

You folks are so spoiled with your big oil salaries and bonuses. It is about time we get you back to a good ole fashioned lay-off like the ones in the 1980s and 90s. You all should experience the extreme anxiety and then disappointment when they tell you your job is gone and you need to be out by the end of the day. But you will get outplacement benefits that include free faxes to answer the ads in the newspapers from all over the country. Happy job hunting.

@a3 yes I see plenty of plagiarism on this site all over with no quotes. Says a lot about the character of people who have been hiring on lately. We are due for more like a 25-30% cut easilyy to really clean out this much trash.

The financial news stated 9,000 employees but >80% will be in the US, so I would say yes, the is the largest US layoff at Chevron. In 2026, the Hess employees will be merged into Chevron and there will be another round of layoffs. Holy Guacamole!!!

Low cost locations aren’t going to do a layoff. Manila and Buenos Aires are out of scope.

My Chevron is now a Sinclair gas station. Used to be an Amoco. Gotta keep up my rewards.

Ratio
US is 50%
Low cost geography 50%

lets say total is 2,000 and cut 40% in US… that is a total of only 20% reduction globally… expect LCG to cut their very low performers only

this could go 40-50% if India and manila started hiring people tons of people

A 40-50 % cut IS THE LARGEST IN THE US.. been w CVX 20+ years … usually only 20% in US
