When I got laid off, I never expected finding another job would be this tough. I’ll admit, I turned down a few offers early on because the pay seemed too low, but later, I would’ve taken any of them in a heartbeat if I could’ve gotten those offers back. I can’t tell you how relieved I am now, but that was hands-down the scariest time of my life. It’s a terrible time to be laid off. My advice is to save as much as you can. Don’t assume severance will be enough if it happens to you. The job market is brutal right now.

Well if you turned down opportunities before accepting one, don't say it took you seven months to find a job.
Is Elevance still giving folks the Supplemental Unemployment based on your years of service?
They are out there. I have moved a couple of times the past 15 years and here is what matters.
Your network. Not those you think you are friends with but rather those who WILL introduce you and forward you to the hiring manager. Dont waste time on Indeed and the job boards. Its who you know and or where you worked. Dont be afraid to pick up the phone.
Congratulations on finding a job. I'm experiencing the same thing, with increased competition for every position i've applied for. Finding out that a hundred applicants applied for a position isn't unusual right now, It sure seems like a recession.
How do you sell on importing more workers? Outlets will always report a great job market. There is always a shortage on highly skilled workers with absolutely no work experience.
@ a9+1jkxmw0wh thanks for sharing. What a psycho that guy is. I guess it just affirms how much leadership su-ks across Fortune 500 companies. “ Just be happy yo have a job do we can continue to exploit workers for the gain of our shareholders”. Then when something we did causes economy to tank. 2008 mortgage crises for example. We can beg our government for a bailout. No accountability whatsoever. Or Elevance who couldn’t see the loss of Medicaid members despite being warned.
But traditional news outlets will tell you the job market is still good. We are all being fed lies.
This is the real goal …

Leadership across industries is flexing to show who is really in charge.
Sorry to hear about your tough situation. I am glad you secured a job now. What I learnt from others is the pay scale is drastically reduced now. Its almost 60-70% of what was offered for the same job in 2021/2022.
I'm finding the same thing. I've never had such a difficult time finding a job.
