Nobody is safe.
In any industry.
Ever.

Stop thinking there's such a thing as job security.

Just be willing to change and you'll be ok.

Does anyone if PSG FPGA will take the same approach as mentioned by user above? PSG shows ‘strong’ revenue past quarters, however reading on this board it seems like no one is safe.

AXG is not safe. All its divisions have already submitted a list of names and it has been in the making and ratified by all GM's for the past 5 weeks. The list will be executed in tiers meaning depending on how much cut is needed they will use the "options" (list #1,#2,#3..). They know already how many HC but just waiting for HR micro schedules and legal final blessings. BTW, your manager knows if you are affected or not since managers were the ones rolling up the "candidates" up to the GM's. The manager will not be the ones making the final decision since that will be the GM's and their staff call for each affected division.

Visual Compute, Xe Silicon, Xe Arch, and Super Compute will be the ones most affected. Out of the ~5600 BB employees from AXG, so far it looks around 12% will be cut which will put the group around 5k(BB).

AXG is $100M underwater going into Q4 so a 12% HC reduction should yield over 75-85M in payroll and the balance will be worked thru the regular budget attrition and reprioritization exercises. The goal is to go into DPOR and plan 23 as lean as possible and prioritize the top 3 programs for the group.

SATG will have a similar approach so does DEG and CCG as they will coordinate program efforts across the board.

The good news is that if you are affected most likely it will not be due to performance but rather your current value(ROI) ranking within your team(and the economic global situation) and Intel has promised to have a re-hired option open this time meaning that you could come back in the future once your role is deemed valuable above the zbb lines .

IMHO, if you are affected and you want to come back later on, leave the doors open, help the process and don't hold anything back. This is just business and unfortunately you were in the wrong spot in the wrong time and probably with the wrong team and\or project.

When the cow was fat everything was Ok and you got the benefit of it especially these past few years under the pandemic were other people had no job and you were most likely WFH with a lot of perks being paid by Intel and a lot of flexibility so count your blessings and make the best out of it.. Good luck.
