Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Actions have consequences

The longer we wait for layoffs, the worse my work ethic becomes. You don't care about my mental health? That's perfectly fine. I don't care about my productivity. I'll start late, I'll take long breaks, I'll ignore my emails for as long as I can. I'm at the point where I honestly don't even care anymore if I'm on the list, so I don't see a point in trying harder.

I do feel down sometimes about this but folks we need to buck up and grow up and do our jobs.
Most companies give you zero notice and no severance. We are very lucky and they’re being very considerate. Yes it’s taking some time but would you rather just show up tomorrow and your badge doesn’t work? And no severance? No

So get back to work!

Are people with 3 or 4 exceeds safe from layoffs?

I read that they can avoid the WARN notices if they basically pay out the notice period. I wouldn't expect to see anything on that site.

OP I was just like you during the good times! A slacker doing the bare minimum effort only to pump up the volume before PMP’s. Then back to slacking. Coming in late and blaming traffic on I45. Taking long lunch breaks and using the men’s room often. But I always kissed my TL as much as possible and always acted like I knew what I was talking about in the meetings I actually attended. All in all a prince of an Employee! Hang in there.

In other words: "ki-ling us softly"... ridiculous policy. They exterminate us completely. And for those who remain, it will take some time to "recover" until next round of layoffs... THE CHEVRON WAY!!!.. YAY!!.. No wonder why Chevron goes lower and lower every year.....

Rather than not do anything… I’m actively engaged in making things worse for fun! Use the d-mb processes against themselves. Really watch the try-hard scramble to defend “the processes.” (which never worked or helped to begin with… always had to cleverly navigate around them to get anything accomplished) Let management Live by the Sword, Die by the Sword!

Real affects visible now. The seemingly bottomless drill queue in MCBU 2 years ago ( does everyone remember the Reuters slide showing Chevrons acreage vs peers) has dried up to a trickle as the CD team churns on delivering projects.

Jesus Christ, just do your job, and worry about layoffs when you find something tangible out.
I seriously doubt you will be missed by your managers.

Chevron gets around the 60-day notice period by paying you 2 months pay while terminating you immediately. This isn’t their first rodeo.

It’s a quandary. It is difficult to keep any level of enthusiasm up while you know they are planning to remove you and your boss has been told to try and get projects finished asap. So focus on what you can control, or in other words, keep working hard on what we need….until we don’t need you to do it!

I keep checking the WARN notices for California and Texas. Nothing yet. Mass layoffs would require 60 days notice. We have a lot of waiting ahead of us. Stay strong.

Buckle up. It’ll be another few months as they wade through EOI, selections, etc. Not to mention the year + of chaos after the cuts.

The fallen may be the lucky ones

This is slow poisoning.. Impacts company.. impacts people.. should have done layoff in November-24 with 3-4 months of extra salary.. a win win for everyone.
