@OP+1jkf14rab, are you on the list for rif today?
While waiting for that time to come, don't waste your time. Ultimately, it's YOUR time. Only YOU will be accountable for what you did with your 40 hours per week, 2,080 hours per year, 6,240 hours in 3 years till the next retrenchment cycle comes. Watch YouTube or Netflix during work, that might help, or do some real work.
Then send an email to everyone in your group.
The company could just offer a buyout deal of 110% of normal severance. I bet there's a hundred Seagate oldsters ready to take it and be done with this place. I don't know why they stopped doing those. Making people have an awkward conversation with the manager to volunteer for whenever another layoff happens, or forcing them to do quiet quit behavior to get chosen does not uphold peoples dignity. They deserve better treatment. But hey, this is Seagate. "We turn on employees."
Make sure your boss don't appreciate your work too much nor hate you too much. If your boss value your work he won't let you go..if he or she dislike you to the core they will make sure you get fired instead of getting the package.Jist bw lukewarm employee that neither over deliver or under deliver tasks assigned to you..
Well duh. Do both. Volunteer AND mega quiet quit.
Best thing to do is quiet quit as much as you can. Just start to be very quiet. I've known many people that volunteer that are passed over because they are very knowledgeable and productive. So if you are a really good performer it might not work.
Have you volunteered to your management???
You and me both my friend. I know a lot of us that have been around a long time are burned out but still doing our best. Hopefully there will still be a severance.
