So is there a hiring or promotion freeze? Are people moving teams. Can’t pinpoint it and supervisors aren’t being straightforward.

Mid level supervisor can only handle 5 reports? Group sizes should be 8 to 12. Performance issues should be addressed and managed to allow this span of control. The entire company should be no more than 6 levels top to bottom. Root out corruption, enable excellence and celebrate success.

I am a mid-level supervisor with a team of 5. I think this level could be taken out, but then we have to stop giving every person a shoulder to cry on and that won't bode well for employees. A person with many more reports than that can not track what those below them are doing and know what their day-to-day looks like, so the performance review structure would need to change. Let's face it, this is a soft company that is nearly impossible to get fired from, save for these 'cost' projects every 3-5 years.

Over sixty years old with overinflated salaries, that is where cost cutting would be most effective. Benefits and salary alone would add up and opens space for those who still (somewhat) care.

Competitive Edge = COSST from 2015. Wasn’t handled correctly then and won’t be this time either. It’s an opportunity for those in charge to destroy their enemies while neglecting the hard task of truly optimizing the organization. Let’s start by sending all expats who have been in place more than two years back to their home BUs. If the home BU no longer exists then bye bye. UK BU boo hoo. Same for Venezuela.

Layoffs are coming and probably a freeze. It’s the cycle of O&G and I was definitely warned about it when I started 12 years ago. I’m finally at the point in my career where I’m super excited to get my payday and leave this ridiculous company.
