Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Joining Ford 3 years ago was the biggest mistake of my career

My skills have been detoriating, my attitude towards work is bad and I feel hopeless in general. The is absolutely zero sense of culture or collaboration, Im pretty sure most people are looking for other jobs or are working another job

They have no budget here to train people ( no one goes to conferences, does any training, etc).

People are just paper pushing and pretending to work. Nothing really is getting done and hiring in Chennai isnt helping anything.

@OP+1jkdxmtqa, I'm sorry you feel that way, but at least you recognize it now after three years rather than ten years down the road. Most contractors think that way; technology passes them over, and there is no way to regain what they lost. Hence, most contractors will only stay with a company for two to three years before moving on—unless they are hired or love their jobs—not the company, but the job they do or the people they support. Good luck with your future endeavors.

Kids these days. If you don't like the job, feel you are wasting your time, find a new job or career. I've been in engineering 40 years. Worked at various companies, various industries. I'm now in my sunset, but still (most days) enjoying what I am doing. Sure some days are frustrating, trying to get things done, being asked to do things others in my position might not be able to, but I have the experience built up to accept the challenges and try and do a good job. I've been laid off. I've left some jobs. But life is what you make of it, so pull yourself up and ride that horse to another place....or country.

Everyone makes mistakes, but Ford makes the same mistakes over and over again.

If you feel that way you should leave. I have worked at Ford over 30 years. They have been good to me.
