Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Are we talking about the same company?

Feb 4 - INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Elevance Health Foundation today announces its new five-year, $150 million commitment aimed at addressing the physical, behavioral, and social needs of under-resourced communities.

We’ve got $150M to spend in this (good cause though), but we tell our reports that we’re under “budget constraints”. We RIF’d a number of folks in the BH area a few weeks ago. Who’s going to take care of the community’s behavioral and social needs.
It’s like Elevance is schizophrenic, or at least the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing.
I’m close to retirement; might just push it up a bit for MY mental health.

I checked on this a few years back. My understanding is that the EH Foundation is a separate entity from the company. An actual charity, that is really doing some good things. While the company has made some charitable contributions to the Foundation, the Foundation operates from a pool of resources that were generated when the company was first created. It has no impact on EH's budgets.

Can I use any of that money to help pay for my food in the office mini-cafeteria/vending machines?

I thought that this initiative was to do with the AI agent based therapy project. I didn't realise that the budget for that was so substantial though.

Speaking of spending tens of millions needlessly, is the former CEO (JS) and GMc still on payroll? If yes, when are they being riffed?

"Elevance Health Foundation today announces its new five-year, $150 million commitment aimed at addressing the physical, behavioral, and social needs of under-resourced communities." This is a combination of public relations and marketing. The company gets to write all of it off.... Based on the last 10 years of merit raises, many of us employees are now living in those under-resourced communities while the Executives purchase second and third homes and take three expensive vacations each year.

I agree. More layoffs happening this week. This company has no decency or ethics left.
