Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Head Count

If the latest rumors are true, this is the list I have of senior leadership “retirements” and resignations over the past year:

EN, GM of Data
BB, CIO
AW, VP Corp Affairs
RM, VP HR
CL, Head of Cyber
NH, VP
CP, VP Midstream
LM, Executive Advisor to LC/GM of Data
PB, VP and CFO

Which other ones have I missed?

@k3+1 stop making sh!t up in hopes of staying in San Ramon. CL is NOT a “San Ramon guy”. He only moved there for the downstream job, and personal family situation kept him there until his high school kid graduated. The guy is from the Midwest/East coast DC. He would have been fine moving to Houston as CIO.

He isn’t even staying in the Bay Area in his new company… so yea, please stop making stuff up

Poster below has it right. Long term IT will be run by and out of India with terrible quality but good metrics to convince executives that everything is great

I believe LC was brought in to remove the IT leaders that have been at CVX for the past 20+ years. He will be at CVX < 3years. The ELT wanted changes from BB and he did not make improvements in the timeframe the ELT expected, from 2020 to 2025. LC is a short term solution to execute the ITC employee reduction. The long term CIO will be an Indian with an aggressive perspective of cost control and using metrics to measure success. BB had worked with all the legacy IT leaders and he did not remove the people that were not delivering a lower cost operating model. There are many Indian nationals that operate low cost efficient IT organizations and the efficiency is part of their culture. CVX IT has the "Chevron Way" behaviors where everyone is nice to each other and no one can challenge another person. These are not efficient ways to drive change and effective cost cutting.
When the new CIO is an Indian national, CVX will begin to replace the IT leadership team with Indian males and turn CVX IT into a sweat shop of employees working in foreign companies. The metrics will look good and cost will be lower but the customer service will be horrible. That is the plan....

Chris Lukas departures signals something even far worse for me, that work, outside of the main hub is dead. He’s a San Ramon guy and if he isn’t allowed to work from SR, no one be allowed from anywhere. This is the short sighted, myopic view we’re regressing back to, like we’re chasing the caveman.

LC didn’t bring in his own LT in his previous stops. The only one sho followed him around he’s already tried and failed.

He will need to leverage the extended LT because the other companies actually pay more than Chevron and the only thing that keeps somewhat good people around at Chevron is that LTIP and pension. Otherwise his extended LT would leave too. Chevron doesn’t pay enough to attract experienced mid career people to join because base+bonus is so low.

I don’t think LC knows enough qualified people to remake his own LT

LC doesn’t care if the LT leaves. They bring in their own people after they push out the current LT. LC. wants to build his own LT. It’s like when the president chop their cabinet.

Interesting.. if CL leaves, that may put Cyber team in trouble.. most jobs may transition to Engine.

I think people are on the CL and MA bandwagon because the bar is set so low because of everyone else. They don’t seem to be arrogant or ego driven and pretty easy to talk to, mostly keep their words and it actually seems they care for people.

Chevron is filed with hypocrisy and nepotism and various employee pets.
Let’s take DP for example, how is that guy has been able to work completely remote for the last two years? While we are all getting axed.
Have you even tried to engage TK? She’s a vicious high schooler who never matured into a well rounded person, it’s almost like she’s born to be a b..ch.
Don’t even get started on MC, she has the personality of a doorknob and can’t even inspire loyalty from a dedicated puppy.
AG is universally hated except by the mainly black portion of the DEI crowd (and no, I’m not a white guy).
The worst tho is Raymond S. That guy is a snake and barely reads and writes at a 3rd grade level.

This is what we’ve inherited over the years and lead to this nightmare of an IT organization we have today.

How do I get on the CL Cyber bandwagon? That’s the only group that gets paid to throw money into the fire.

What has MA done to deserve such adoration from IT? Maybe because he’s like a baby GM sorta like the backup quarterback that everybody roots for?

Just wait until he gets there, and then we can spread the hate all around.

SK is not a real GM. If she was a real GM, then you have about 100 other GMs on IT. lmao

wait, what CL (the CISO ?) is leaving? whoa I just saw him in Houston this week....he was talking to a group of people about being excited about FGP and that datacenter announcement..... didnt give off I'm leaving vibes

if this is true its a bad look for LC. .imho he is our best it leader.. I actually liked hearing him speak at engineering summit ...maybe CL is pi---d he was passed over for cio by someone that basically managed a BU before he came here. I have to imagine BK is looking at this one going wtf
I wonder if he resigned or did LC tell him it was time to resign to make way for another person from GM. Why would you resign when you can eoi. something is off.

CL leaving is plausible, given that his role will move to Houston. He had previously been quite vocal about relocating there, but I understand that many senior IT leaders are not impressed by LC, so that might be a factor!

I consider CL to be one of the better senior IT leaders and would be a loss to Chevron. If he does leave, I expect the next CISO to be an external hire. Maybe one of LC’s mates? Hopefully not.

We're witnessing a slow purge of senior management. Those who are not on board with, or haven't produced for, MW, are slowly being allowed to leave "with dignity". The criteria will be the same for the grunt-level jobs. Performance, or lack thereof, has very little to do with MW's purges. Look back to 2020 and 2015 and you'll see. If you feel you fit either or both of those two criteria, best to take the EOI...

There was a guy who took care of the break room on one of the floors I worked on that was an undocumented immigrant. He was really nice and I used to talk to him. He put his daughter through engineering school in Mexico by sending money back to his wife. He told me he guided her towards engineering because she was good in math and science and he watched the people at cvx succeed through engineering. He has been in the USA for 20 years and traveled back to Mexico to watch his daughter graduate from college. He was a great dad and a good person.
I hope they let him go….

Also, wasn't there a Chief Digital Officer at one point?
