Has anyone else noticed that additional job responsibilities are being added to your role moving forward? It seems like duties of other teams/departments are being assigned and it seems like this may be happening in anticipation of more lay-offs. Feels like they are planning to cut entire teams and expect the others to pick up the slack. As if the majority are not already drowning with their increased workloads from the recent layoffs in 2024.

AC is out so there is that but good to know about upper mgt getting the axe this round.
Upper mngt is the target for this round according to the leak I’m getting. We survived 2024 but you know it was bound to happen. Money money money. Farm it out.
AI is the winner in Round 2
Went through a reorg in 2024. Doing the same job in a different department, but now I'm the only person doing my job when there were 3-4 people before. For the same pay.
They can tack on whatever additional responsibilities they want and I will do it as long as it fits in my 8 hours period. I have no problem getting laid off so do not bother threatening me.
Yes, someone quit and now I am doing her work, for same pay. Not doing a good job because it’s too much. It’s crazy
Yes.
It's done so that as people are laid off, you are meant to do more work for the same amount of pay. You don't have a choice and you just do it because that's how it's set up.
But, unless you have a job lined up, you can't just quit. Its a cost saving measure, higher ups know your team is designed to have 12 people but some No-Name MBA Schmuck frames it as: "look how well it's operating with 9, and look we're saving 25% in employment costs! Look how useful my idea of downsizing was! Look how useful I am! Team gets overwhelmed? Just hire some 1099 from overseas for 30% the cost of a US based employee!"
Unless your C-Suite or liked enough to shield from layoffs, you are not special in this company , most companies.
The additional responsibilities will come with no increase in pay, no title change, and no ability to move upward. Oh, two people were laid off on your team? Congratulations, you now get to do the work of three people with the pay of one. They will then say be glad you have a job.
