Has CDW ever offered buy outs ahead of layoffs?

Buyout offers or offering reduced hours, being able to move from full-time to part-time or transfer to another role that's open - all of these options would allow people to choose what type of job they'd prefer instead of forcing layoffs and losing good employees. Some may want a part-time job instead of no job or want to change roles but "random" layoffs don't give CDW or employees a chance to rebalance the workforce with people who might want to do something different or maybe just work less hours. I think higher paid employees absolutely get tagged for review during layoffs but not necessarily end up getting selected. Rethinking how many management levels & managers we have might be a good idea too........
He or she is right actually. If anyone has me pull the records and percentages of what types of coworkers we let go and why, the answer will be clear. I can't say more without exposing who I am or what area I work but I ran the numbers based on everyone we took action on and we are exposed if anyone sues for discrimination for two and maybe three reasons. When someone does, it is incumbent on us to provide the numbers and when we do, they will discover the problem. Thus, they will settle when they are asked to do that to protect our company name from the truth.
"Take them to court. There is a reason they offer buy outs and separation money. They will settle for much more if you sue or your attorney can win much more. A couple have before and part of the settlement is we can't tell anyone so I can't give specifics but trust me. Sue them and get a very very nice cushion until you land somewhere else."
Take them to court for what? They aren't doing anything illegal. Immoral maybe...but find me a publicly traded company that isn't....

How would buyouts benefit the company? Why not just lay people off? If you're hinting that the company "cares" about people, I would like whatever dr-gs you're on.
Buyouts are usually for management or people who hold large, great books of business that CDW can’t afford anymore. If you’re getting offered a buyout, you are probably more important than the people posting here. That said, they do offer severance to almost everyone with a clause that you don’t sue the company.
