Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Carelon town hall

So anyone else think it's in such poor taste to have these high level execs talk about their homes in nantucket, spending time on their boats, etc when everything has gone to cr@p recently between the rifs and insulting AIP amounts? I get more disgusted everyday.

Nantucket is the Capital of our Hunger Games.

It's a lot of being chained to your desk in a glass office while "leaders" drink tea imported from a CGS factory flown in on McKinsey private jets.

All they do is gawk at you and talk amongst themselves. Yet constantly ask why you're not happy. Then for fun they toss in some vague scraps of paper and tell you to build something worth 5x the value but some of those scraps have disappearing in so you better be quick.

They're also doing this to the people in the other glass offices. The problem is, none of you can do it alone, yet only one of you can survive, and that's even iffy.

Hence the odds are never in anyone's favor unless you're a tea drinker.

With the 1 to 2 percent raises the past five years not coming even close to inflation, I can't even afford fast food for dinner. I am buying breakfast cereals when they are on sale to feed my family for dinners. My husband is having to work a second job now so we can keep covering rent. It is just criminal what the Executives are doing to the people that keep the lights on in the place.

Here's a town hall idea. Let the associates speak. Tell the story about working 80 hours and missing their kids sports games while leaders can afford nannies, housekeepers and chefs. Talk about how you eat fast food 3 times a week because you're too stressed out to cook. Or how you have no idea how you're going to pay your rent if you're rifed and you've been here over a decade but the company doesn't care.
We don't need to build empathy for leaders. I think you'll find they're well compensated to be hated. The small folk are not and yet are disregarded. Have empathy for US.
If none of the high priced consultants you hired to teach you how to be human have advised you that empathy starts with us not you then they owe you a huge refund. Not to mention if you ever listened to associates you'd know that your stories are lead balloons. Have focus groups on your stories for God's sake. Who actually thought Nantucket was relatable while rifing constantly. It should be an SNL sketch.

Their audience is not US workers. This is to impress offshore, which will be 80% in 5 years. 20% will make enough to serve at the pleasure of the SLT.

Question - is Nantucket less than 50 miles from a pulse point? Is BW on the RIF list then? Or the person who runs CULTURE. The group gaslighting us that everything is fine. I bet things are fine in Nantucket though.

Leaders shouldn't be above company policy. If they don't like it, THEY should change it not act superior.

Stop letting SLT speak to worker bees in any forum. Their egos are obvious regardless of their cute, comms approved life stories. No one gives a F. We're trying to feed our families on dollar tree meals amid no raises and pi-s poor bonuses. you're deciding between the $100 steak or the fish. We are not the same. Stop pretending. Id rather you admit that you think you're above the working class instead of trying to relate. You don't. You can't. Spare us all.

Let's try having leaders not talk for once. If we never hear from another SLT leader again, morale would increase considerably.

Perspective … you are getting a glimpse inside the bubble. In the bubble, it’s a humble and noble life, looked down upon by the Bezo’s of the world. Lower class of the ultra rich, how can’t you relate.

I honestly do not have time, nor interest, to have to keep listening the life stories and hobbies of c-suite execs. Attempts at humanizing these people while continually taking a dump on the plebs is despicable. There is never anything of value that is meaningful in our day to day jobs. Send a freaking email and keep it moving.

Didn't you know you have to be a full-blown soulless narcissist to be in management at this company?

Nantucket’s dad: “ Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr. (born August 28, 1939) is an American attorney, political executive, and lobbyist who was chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1983 to 1989. “ oh boy

She seemed to refer to it as she “also has a house on Nantucket” not her sole house but maybe you’re right.

I wasn't in the Town Hall....but the visual and audacity of the execs doing this makes me absolutely ill!! This is so inappropriate and in very poor taste. Classless and clueless!!

To be fair, I think it’s her only house (I’m on her. team). I struggle with it too- I want them to be real but also read the room.

Bryony has always been down to earth when I have met her.

Right? Read the room. Second house in Nantucket, sailing, owning a soccer team… seriously out of touch
