Thread regarding Highmark Health layoffs

Huge RIF across enGen 1/30/25

Is anyone hearing the scope of layoffs across enGen today? It sounds like this may be the biggest yet by the number of people who are dropping.

It’s an American company serving American members. Just thought I’d leave this here. Maybe you’ll understand the resentment Americans feel while being systematically replaced by foreign labor.

Someone should go to the media with this. This company and it's competitor are big employers in this region and both have been bleeding jobs for the last year or more. Both have made efforts to do this piecemeal to stay out of the media but the community deserves to know what is going on.

Truly wild the venom some people feel comfortable spewing when given the chance to be anonymous.

Laying off round after round largely only in the U.S. after losing customers due to poor results. I wonder why this is happening ? Keeping people in India who CONSTANTLY cause problems in production, hiding what they do and only worrying about trying to save face constantly. Dumping work on other teams when it’s already too late with the damage done, and forcing others to clean up their mess over and over and over again. All of this is always documented and presented to leadership and absolutely zero accountability is ever taken.

Who cares about thryve and your racism comments. Give me a break. Those 100 jobs that you say were lost in india are payback for 1000s they stole already with their slave labor.

When does the WARN Act apply?
Mass layoff
When 500 or more employees are laid off, or 50–499 employees are laid off and they make up more than a third of the workforce

While I really am feeling it today, I agree with few comments below. Our colleagues in India are trying to make a living as well. We really need to blame our leaders are to put us in this position. We need more accountability. I heard Brian L left on his own terms and was not let go. Top leader leaving by himself shows trouble.

Over 100 positions eliminated on the east side too, there’s just different protocols over there. But the blatant racism here is gross. It is a sad day for all employees.

I’m truly sorry to those who lost their jobs today. Your anger isn’t unjustified - but I’m begging you to consider the direction you’re pointing it in. It sounds like Thryve took some hits, & nobody in India is “coming to take your job”.

Hold the leadership accountable for this - not other working folks.

On call with Mark Krebs now about “Today’s Actions” .. very scary day today. Hurtful they put so much trust on offshore people who know nothing about our infrastructure here.

Can someone expand on why the WARN Act doesn't apply?

Our arm of the org was about ~70% offshore jobs lost today, FWIW. Myself not among them, fortunately.

Offshore your knowledge base, create a major moral problem, destroy any loyalty one might have to the organization is a clear recipe for bringing down a company. Engen will not be around in five years.

FYI: Dont be blindslided, no one is safe at this point. A very reliable source said next round of layoffs for enGen is next Tuesday. Mick doesn't want the media involved so they broke the layoffs into two phases. Today was phase 1 and next Tuesday is phase 2. Really sad what is happening and unfortunately will get worse. Remember no one is safe unless you are in India. Remember you are part of the 90/10 rule. 90% workforce India and 10% USA.

EnGen is run by some really stupid people. They lose a big customer and can’t seem to connect the dots as to how their offshoring caused the many issues and unhappy customers. Of course they will do the same thing they have done the last 15 years. Layoff more people that have knowledge. Plug and play. Right? It has worked so well for you. Stick with that brilliant strategy

enGen is not long for this world. They'll keep some management in the US but the rank and file will all be overseas

I was just laid off. I been there 2.5 years. They would not disclose the % impacted in RIF. Seems like a good percent impacted based on conversations I'm hearing.

Only strategy of senior leaders is to save cost by outsourcing. No real revenue growth since last few years. Infact, there is a dip in revenue. Why are sr leaders still there?

It’s true that more work is getting outsourced to India. They laid off a bunch of people from US offices including Indians who were working here.

I’m hearing so far that all who are being let go have double digit yrs at the company. All US based. I guess healthcare now belongs to India? Good luck .

Wow, 200 of us? All “financially driven”. I suppose I lost my job of 36 years - 3 years from retirement- because the upper management needs their hundreds of thousands pay incentives? Note to all who want to work for a good company, stay away frim Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of INDIA.
