Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HMP is just plain d-mb

This modernization project has to be about the d-mbest thing they have come up with yet. I cannot imagine what “genius” decided to follow the likes of Exxon and Shell on this one, but why not? We copy them on everything because our leadership is not made up of real leaders with any ideas. I guess it may be their attempt to p—ss off the employees to try and get us all to quit.

Exxon abandoned their well worn space in Fairfax Virginia after completing a new Houston campus. They knew modernization of a 25 year old space was fruitless. They had other reasons but I wouldn’t call modernizing Enron era buildings as following in their footsteps.

Sell the towers to Brookfield before it is even more too late.

The writing is on the wall - they hope to sublease as much as possible after the Houston workforce gets reduced. Easier to lease modernized space than the boring call center aesthetic we currently have.

I agree flex seating is ridiculous. It’s as if they are saying “we need you in the office because we are better together, but we don’t need you enough to give you an assigned place to sit every day…just go find a place.” Upside is it’s way easier to avoid people you don’t want to see and if you get stuck near somebody unpleasant, pick up your things to “go to a meeting” and then find somewhere else to sit when you return.

They should start with modernizing the security gate in 1400 by the elevator bank that has been down for months - sure hope they benchmarked that. Two plastic sliding doors, maybe call HEB and see how they keep theirs working

Also managed by an expensive Aussie expat and a contingent of Deloitte consultants. Now that’s capital discipline!
