Survivors Guilt

Anyone else broken by these RIFs and have survivors guilt?
We know it is not our fault but when our friends go, it’s hard to handle.

No.
This is the first job in my life where I haven't made a single friend. The age gap makes it hard and most of my coworkers at this point are off shore.

I do agree that every time you see friends cut it leaves you bit more broken and distrustful. Hard to focus when its the most important time to deliver if you don't want to be on the next list. But not guitly.

Not so much guilt as this gallows humor of doing even more with less for leaders who don’t get it or even worse just don’t care. The level of ignorance and apathy that is accepted under the excuse of greed and self-preservation is inexcusable. The only thing keeping me going is the will to resist and the occasional ray of light that comes in when I see someone else who refuses to kick the can down the road.

My heart goes out to everyone, and their families impacted by the rifs. I am still in disbelief regarding how deep the cuts have gone in such a 'rich' company. Hoping for everyone the job market picks up in a few months and you all can find companies that treat their employees with more kindness and consideration. I am over 55 now so I am sure my days are numbered as well. Just waiting for the hammer to drop.

I was RIF’d yesterday and to be honest, my team has been so swamped and miserable, I am the one who feels guilty for getting out while they are stuck to pick up more work when I’m gone. It’s just terrible all around for everybody

Sadness yes. Disappointment yes. Outrage yes. Guilt no.

The company riffed them, you didn’t. Guilt isn’t good for your mental health. Just know we work for a greedy a-s company that doesn’t give 2 sh--s for the members we serve.
