Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

TIAA Experiance

This used to be a great place to work, but since the new CEO took over it has in a death spiral. Worked there for 23 years and finally had enough and walked.

If Accenture is in, that usually means poor leadership from the top, and consultants come in to cut costs so leadership gets their big pay packages.

That means everyone else is a target for a layoff, that turns into more work for the rest, but not more pay

Can’t wait to find a new job. No appreciation, no raises, worked to death. Company has become a clown show.

20 years here. Loyal until the announcements in August and overly excited T and the two telling Denver about “fresh young talent” in Frisco. Good luck getting them with so many FinTech companies down there paying more and other companies offering fully remote positions.

Morale is negative especially for peers in Denver. Never felt this useless in my tenure here as a number instead of an associate and contributing participant.

The town hall yesterday somehow made me feel worse. Like everyone is struggling but temu wants us to contribute more to save this sinking ship?!? Yet same old salary as last few years…

Most of us barely make it paycheck to paycheck. I already took a loan from my 401k due to no raises in 3 years and inflation. Move to Frisco to keep a job with no raise or promotion - no thanks… will likely take the first offer received externally to get out of this dumpster fire of senior leadership working everyone to the bone and asking for more. Good luck to all who remain.

15 years, walked during the VSP in 2020. No regrets. Sad to see so many good people getting royally hosed by a bunch of id--ts who don't know what they are doing. You could argue the firm was always headed this way, but at a much slower pace. These jokers have drastically sped up the demise and in the near future, only Nuveen will exist. There is life outside of TIAA walls though...and it's much better! It's like leaving a dysfunctional relationship - there's a bit of a mind #$# that goes on, but once you work past that, you'll realize how messed up the whole thing was and what actual happiness in your work is. Good luck to you!

I have been with TIAA 26 years. This is a nightmare. The CEO is replacing everyone with Accenture.
