Thread regarding CDW layoffs

So many directors leaving on their own or saying they were forced out.

Directors of both Strategic Initiatives & Professional Services were working with my team on projects but both suddenly retired out of the blue.
The Director of Field Marketing didn't mention retiring but instead felt they needed to leave with nothing lined up.
Any ideas with what's coming that people are bailing one after the other? April?

Me too. I lied when I was sent to speak to a higher up too on my reasons for leaving and told them what my boss asked me to say. It was not him, he was great, just didnt feel needed here, etc. I think deep inside they know the truth.

Smart! I had to do something similar. Never burn bridges.

When I left on my own, I had to speak to one of the execs so he could ask why I left. My leader told me to tell them it was because of lack of support from the company so I did so I wouldn't have a bad review from him down the road and even lied about how great he was to me. It was easier to do than to deal with the reality. I left for a similar title and am making a little less but I like the ethics and professionalism in my department now. Everyone has to do what they have to do.

As everyone knows a coworker can no longer carry over vacation hours, effective 3/2025. Simply means CDW won’t have to pay out.
The other comments related to 4/1 layoffs seem to be inline. Compared to other companies CDW is really heavy with management layers. I strongly recommend everyone to have resume and LinkedIn profiles current. Seems any technology job today has 100+ applications. Good luck.

For a lot of the Amplified and Sirius employees their stock grants are completing vesting, and since those are now offered only to Senior Directors and above a lot of management don't have a desire to make less in the coming years.

There are no layoffs coming if we perform and grow as a company. We need to turn things around and we can start growing again!

There is definitely another layoff coming. Oh, and Mission Forward is more like a joke. It should be called ‘Personal Pet Projects’. We are wasting million$ on it when we could be raising compensation and keeping people here who want to be here, and incentivising them to innovate on the job.

100% there will be more layoffs. They are babysitting (aka checking) who is coming in the office or not. They're making a list 😉 Miraculously managers are starting to reappear and get involved? Bipolar management sprinkled w/ some personality disorder 🙄

The ones who shouldn't stay are staying for example our director who was demoted to a sr manager and should have been outright cut loose because he promotes based on dei politics instead of merit. He is a walking lawsuit because as soon as eeoc changes guard and is informed of his mannerism he wil be more expensive than they ever counted on.

Same thing has happened in the UK in the past few months.

JD Hupp - MD of UK and International
Malcolm Pape - CFO
Carl Lawton - CTO
Guy Smith - CIO
Tom Nesbit - VP Operations

These guys didn’t retire but clearly asked to leave at the same time.

Most of the leaders who "retired" were forced into it (usually with a severance package with strings attached), and are "gracefully" communicating their exits publicly. (Not so much to preserve CDW's reputation --- it just never looks good on oneself to throw a prior employer under the bus even if you are pi---d off at them privately). Others can see the writing on the wall as far as career advancement, and are jumping ship before they get "separated" to pursue better opportunities elsewhere. Some of the more talented are starting their own businesses completely outside of Tech. Or getting snapped up by competitors as soon as their NDA / non-competes expire.

The SI Director was also the Director of Sustainability. He announced Friday he "retired" after 28 years.

Everyone on my team, including my manager thinks that a lay off is coming in April. Even with Chris saying they want to accelerate mission forward, that acceleration means more automation and eliminating a lot of redundancy.

I also heard we eliminated the manager responsible for sustainability.

I'm curious if the retirees really retired or were offered the option to retire or be let go in an upcoming reduction?
Su-ks they always have to sign an NDA and don't tell the truth about things that will sm--k the rest of us.
