Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Are there any rumors around our long-term contractors?

Has anyone heard any rumors regarding green badges in US being affected by offshoring, ENGINE, or other cost-cutting measures? I've worked with some fine people that have been around 10+ years as contractors in same roles. I know this is a layoff site which implies it's for employees, but I truly wonder if the plan is to leave them untouched in order to keep the machine running while we all are distracted with keeping jobs, or EOI as the case may be... or if green badges need to be looking for new opps because they are going to get pinched by this too.

@OP It depends on the job functions and whether or not the group is needed. If not, the whole group is gone—blue and green, everything must go.

While it's correct contractors typically go first, massive contractor cuts only occur when a company needs to cut for immediate financial reasons. CVX is doing average to good and is doing structural cost cutting. That means employees as much or more than contractors. In fact, with all the moving parts of engine and layoffs, they may hold on to more contractors to help the transition. They can cut them at any time no big planning needed.

Contractors are expensive. No matter how good they may be, or how long they've been around, they're really expensive and will be gone first. If any do stick around, you can be sure their contracts will have been restructured downwards.

@bb+1jjdx3dhx... Thanks for broadening my definition of green badge contractors in the US. I didn't think of those consultants brought in to do the dirty work. I was really just wondering if management have started whispering about impacts to the (aka warning) for the long-standing green badges that do everything and then some sitting next to employees.

As with every cost cutting exercise, contractors are cut before employees are cut. Yes, green badges in the US should be job hunting right now.

In the ABU the contracors are far better than the blue badgers and they know it

Most green badges are safe as the target is employees, not overcompensated contractors. In fact, contractors are planning and running the layoff. Hello?

Heard the same greens to go in ABU. The managers who brought them should not get a payout.

Green badge layoffs is the priority over blue badge as cascaded at ABU, following the MW video release in December 2024.
