Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Tone Deaf

President of Windstream Enterprise Michael Flannery had an article published in Forbes on January 23.

"How to turn uncertainty into a positive force inside your organization".

Can you possibly be any more tone deaf and uncaring than have an article with a title like that published days after laying off a sizable portion of the company?

And then some bootie smoocher in marketing post it on Stream like what a great thing this is?

What. The. Actual. Fook.

Interesting point - I agree that many circuits are likely riding IRU fibers between endpoints and these interconnections are not showing in the CLRs nor are the MRCs at the circuit level fully audited. But O Well - its not like they are really trying to build a quality network

Any Tech out in the field can tell you that. You can plug anything and see it and that a service ? And for bigger bandwidth circuits your selling a 10 foot circuit to another carrier on our fiber (IRU) back to theirs back to theirs back to ours . How could you sell it if you do not know the truth at this point no one knows who owns the fiber,

I feel for those on this site that think you have a product to sell. Your selling a product that they buy (a broad band circuit not from us ) any good IT department can do this with out us .

The financials are terrible. Lots of buyouts & volunteer separation packages going to be offered but not sure where that money is coming from. Surely will be lame.

Is anyone really trying to figure out what is going on at this point.Jeff G bought a bunch of CLECs he was a drunk and left it for Tony T and turned it into a REIT so no one could buy it. And here where we are now it was good for every one except the ones that worked to make it happen. Its been a playground for all that no nothing about Telcom.

Ok so based on the recent comment I’m guessing we’re getting an overhaul? Could it be the cuts I’ve been hoping for? Any word other than what you posted? I personally feel like we’re over loaded with useless managers and a few useless directors! I was so happy to see an end to DEI! I personally don’t feel like any of those left will be there by the end of summer but I could be wrong!

Who cares about a reorg unless you’re in bed with your boss and not doing your job. Those happen all the time, it’s the same amount of work, if not more, no matter who you report to.

Wait there’s more. Meetings currently being held with the higher level managers across the footprint. They’re going to be coming out with the reorganization announcement from the merger in the coming weeks. Lots of lower level managers are nervous.

Rewarding executives for failure is what most companies do best.

What a clown. And speaking of tone deaf, You should also see his LinkedIn nonsense. Everything seems peachy while being rewarded for failure. Sick.

Seeing as the largest cut this year (some 2300) occured the day before employee appreciation day, what more do you expect? They aren't running a business, just a spreadsheet.
I guarantee you nobody looks at the cut lists before they happen. Only soulless wraiths could keep this up and address the remainder in such glowing terms..
I'm hearing more and more that staff Managers done even know who they will have month to month. Now, the question is, will the team that performed (X task) be there next week or next meeting even..

Maybe he should go on the next cut list and then see how he deals with uncertainty. What a sh---y article to publish when we are losing jobs, friends, and work family. It shows how disconnected some executives, marketing, and HR are. What the heck is wrong with the leaders in this company. Ahh we just cut several hundred of you, but stay positive! Please read this article I put in Forbes. What horrible leadership.
