Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

What Does Teradata Even Sell?

I have a genuine question. What does Teradata have "on the truck" anymore? Our last 2 releases are absolutely plagued with bugs. VCLE is only on AWS and doesn't even support RedShift. VCLE will be on Azure someday, maybe, Possible-ly. We spend 10x more on "allyship" training than we do on marketing. It took us over 2 years to get a proper "partners" team and they have the unenviable task of convincing CSPs to work with us. We have no delivery teams, a skeleton DS team, our UI/UX has been gutted.

I feel like we are in late-stage decline and that our executives are looting the treasury before it implodes.

what do you think?

We are no longer selling what is on the truck, as there is nothing new here that our competitors don’t offer already…

We are selling the truck now…

It just means that you do not work for Teradata; or you do not deserve working for Teradata. Any TD loyal employee knows exactly what we have « on the truck »; moreover our customers and prospects are also delighted to know.

Competitors don’t even think about Teradata. Teradata is not relevant anymore. They destroyed themselves with all the poor executives and failure to promote from within.

This post looks like competitive marketing misinformation again! Where to even start?

Not in Ops but I just saw an update from them. Total tickets and outage duration are down YoY, while new deployment time and upgrade time is also significantly sped up. VCLE deployment starting in AWS was a good business call, and Engineering is saying they already have multiple teams working on Azure, with committed delivery by end of first H1. I am in the Partner org, and we are actually having real success (minus one known entity!), especially with key wins in the last 2 months. Can't speak to DS directly, but sounds like K&T are working closely with Product.

the most confusing comment is "doesn't even support redshift". what does that even mean?!?

Doubt you are really from TD, but if you are then you should know these things. For everyone else, don't just trust my post, talk to the people who actually have facts.
