Those who try to convince everybody else that there are fewer good jobs available either don't know where to look or are not as good as they should be or think they are. The smart and capable ones already have several backup options ready to go the moment something happens. The jobs exist. Make sure you take advantage of it.

Try another industry, it's better
There aren’t zero jobs available, but there are a vastly smaller number than 6-12 months ago. Intel might be among the hardest hit, but we are on the precipice of an industry-wide or even economy-wide collapse. Intel’s competitors mostly have hiring freezes or significant hiring slowdowns right now. Layoffs will probably be next for some of them. Unlike 2016, this time Intel will be dumping people into a market that isn’t too interested in hiring Intel castoffs. Instead of AMD of Qualcomm or NVIDIA rolling out the red carpet for folks, some ex-Intel people are going to be forced to make $40k less doing a job that doesn’t quite match their skillset, at companies they never heard of before.
Of course if you’re a superstar with industry-wide name recognition, you don’t have anything to worry about. That’s always the case.
Smart capable people left Intel years ago.
