Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who will be the first to go ?

For Recent college grads, will they be the first to go ? I understand wanting to get rid of higher paying employees who have grown idle in their roles and don’t drive value, but if you have a team with older and middling age employees who are all knowledge and well respected in their role wouldn’t it make the most sense to just get rid of the people who are just starting?

Every org has its leaders that nearly everyone agrees has one or more obvious negative traits (toxically dramatic, selfish, arrogant, incompetent, etc.). Some check several of these boxes, but like cockroaches they have managed to survive every previous layoff.

Enlist your people’s help Identify and terminate the cockroaches.

After ACT, this is the next big layoff announcement.

I don't think it has to do with older employees with high pay and all..
Intel pays very less compared to competition so you can guess..also there is no significant difference in pay of RCG vs say 5 to 6 years of work experience.

First to go? People who knew this was coming have left before the job market freeze. As for people who will be affected, it will be a wide spectrum. If a company targets a specific demographic or age there will be lawsuits. HR has to file with labor dept. Cuts will continue in to next year. Spin offs, fire sale,…..etc

RCGs are most enthusiastic worker and not tainted by toxic intel culture. They should be on last priority or not at all for layoff. I love RCGs who are ready to learn and have good motivation.

People who cost too much

People who haven’t expended enough effort making their boss and their boss’ boss look good

People who don’t have defenders in mid and upper management

People who don’t check diversity boxes

I started working last year and have worked in few teams in different domain. I don't find any senior as lazy or taking longer time than necessary instead many of them work extended time when required and help when required

Intel places zero value on experience, knowledge or expertise--it ALL comes down to $$$. Also, workers 40 and older are 4x more likely to get booted over younger workers (and really, anyone 35 and older is subject to being removed.)
Young people need to be worried because one day it will be YOU.
