What do naysayers have to say?

Don't mistake "market performance" by company performance/longevity.
The market is all about current money NOW - and doesn't give a cr-p about the fact that IBM has backed itself - no specifically selected - a nichy and narrowing business model and technology product model.
Sure - Z is pretty farggin awesome - for an increasingly narrowing set of applications - but - wow - if that's it - not the IBM anybody used to think of. Settling back on old and aging laurels.
All the management I have some exposure to - through perhaps 5th line - are all complaining about no money to do what is needed to maintain if not grow the products that do and/or could make money. Just no money. No staff (and us devs expected to pick up load of the smart (and/or not close to retiring) workers. No raises. No Bonuses or anything to reward high performance in sh---y time. Nada.
So there you go. Market doesn't know - nor care - that IBM isn't investing in the core products it retains - just this (and maybe next forward) quarter's numbers.
who fu----g cares
Arvin has turned everything around. IBM has been saved. The future has never looked better. An innovative industry leader once again. Oh and Brandon is doing the same.
Z grew at 88%.
Transaction Processing Software grew at 23%
Distributed/Power grew at 13%
Red Hat grew at 12%
Every other sub-segment across all business units grew at a rate BELOW inflation. Every single SW sub-segment besides TP and RH (Automation, Data & AI, Security, etc) actually SHRANK.
IBM grew but let's not be confused about where the growth came from.
The CEO and CFO both raising the outlook for 4th q and 2023 says something fundamentally changed. I suspect the results from the restructuring are starting to bear fruit. Keep in mind the results were very good during a traditional weak quarter in a challenging economic times.
This was just one quarter. In the past they've had a good quarter that Ginni boosted about Then the next 2 - 3 quarters were just bad followed by massive ra's
Only source of income is selling cr-p to Kyndryl ( what was once internal sales). Wow a great achievement indeed. lAMO
The playahs gonna play play play play
This doesn't last
mediocrity now passes as "crushing it" # sad
And breaking Employment laws too
I don't know about crushing anything They certainly know how to bend accounting principles though
WOW
Another great quarter lead by constant innovation!
IBM beats on top and bottom line. Non-GAAP EPS was $1.81, beating expectations by 1 cent. Revenue was 14.1B, beating by 550M. Stock is up 4%
From today's market action, the market is deeply in love with IBM results and outlook.
lol.... ya okay. company isn't doing anything. lowest paid tech workers on top of it.
Where is the money going?
IBM told you yesterday that the headwinds cost it 1.1-1.3 billion in the 3rd q.
Sure it is crushing it. Hiring, salary and promotions freeze in place for over a year. Attrition to the roof. Where is the money going?
A poster last week said IBM was much further along in its restructuring than folks realized. Yesterdays results proved that as it took everyone by surprise including Wallstreet. NOTE 3rd q is notoriously weak, and IBM not only surprised to the upside, BUT also raised their forecast for 4th q and 2023. So YES IBM did crush it, and that good news will extend into 2023 even given the headwinds of currency, interest rates, and hiring.
Ah ok, so accounting magic. The downward slide continues.
3rd q 2021 numbers included GTS revenue now reported as Kyndryl. 3rd q 2022 numbers do not include GTS revenue. That is approx 4 billion per quarter for GTS revenue
Did they crush it? 3Q21 revenue was 17.6B, 3Q22 was 14.1B which is 20% down? Or am I looking at the wrong numbers, apologies if that's the case.
Full of ….. you know it!
This company has no strategy, no vision, no leadership - top management thinks they are on a throne and takes your signings to make up for their incompetence
Smoke and mirrors…
Fraud. I’ve already dumped all the evidence my d-mb band 7 brain found on the sec desk. I personally have been asked to work on fake technologies and have uncovered fake deals made, especially out of ibm research. It’s a matter of time. There are already insiders in place, amassing loads of evidence. If you are one of the executives who faked sales… Tick tock.
You know how elated parents get when their kid gets a D- instead of the expected F?
That's Wall Street right now with IBM.
