Yep - here sandbagging big time and ordering equipment to be shipped to my home for ....ahem.... storage. I will be prepared for the next round

I seen a few network Engineer III get laid off a couple years ago, now back as Network Engineer 1, so they just want you to work for less. I hope these guys can find someplace to treat them better.
Most Union contracts require 30 days notice of a layoff, they often offer “voluntary separation” packages to the union employees instead of an actual layoff. However last year they did layoffs in several areas. You will probably see separation packages and/or layoffs of union techs next.
Does anybody know if there were any Union job cuts?
I wonder if potential buyers are looking at the ratio of 'protected workers' to regular workers - seems like that would indicate potential workforce shifts following the purchase and subsequent reorgs needed
“Merit” = Earn it
DEI - Didn't Earn It
The best part of the dei initiatives is that all of those bs executive orders that are ki-ling businesses and causing layoffs are history in a few days. Even the Supreme Court has ruled against college affirmative action plans, I am sure that could be expanded, if it is not already.
The nice thing about dei initiatives is you eventually run out of white men to get rid of and have to layoff people who HR gave a permanent pass to.
So sad, company was once run by smart, knowledageable telecom people who cared about employees and customers. The end began when the CPA's all took over in 2006. On the positive side I can tell you there are companies that still care about employees and customers. I found one!
With some of the more senior people in various groups getting cut, I have to wonder if they just axed the highest paid people in the group.
Guys working on projects to increase efficiency and with a ton of knowledge being let go. Really sad.
They've created this mess. Now they are going to get to take ownership of the overtime and extended response times. F 'em.
It wasn't just based off of evaluations. I was out on short term disability due to a medical emergency. I returned in late December. I was the most senior network tech in our local area with over 24 years of service and was laid off Tuesday. I'm pretty sure the decision was made while I was out on short-term disability that I was going to be the one selected BECAUSE I was out for a bit. It is what it is.
Others estimate 10-20%. If you were evaluated at less than 3 you were selected, unless you were in an "untouchable" cohort.
Looks like this poster was correct.
