Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Dying industry

Is managed care a dying industry? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to continue a career in this industry. It just seems so uncertain.

Thoughts??

Find a new industry. As one of the posts mentioned, the pandemic prolonged the end of this scam industry. After the UHC issue, there are a lot of eyes on the industry.

“dip in the profits for Medicare Advantage, the popular Medicare plan administered by commercial insurers, as more and more seniors began to get care after delaying during the pandemic.”

During the pandemic, record profits. MLR was kept above minimum to avoid rebates and make sure books look right.

Instead of using those profits to prepare for something we knew was going to happen, that money went right into leaderships pockets. Now we are told that it was unforeseen and we need to support the unpredictable headwinds.

Join a startup, healthcare will be profitable just not with these 🤡

Yes. You can feel it. It’s time for an industry overhaul. Unfortunately I don’t think the leadership of any company is thinking creatively about what that could look like and it will affect all of us. Jobs and care.
