Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

What’s going on with Frisco?

Been hearing we can’t seem to hire anyone there.

Know there is some kind of quota needed for tax benefits but Frisco is one of if not the biggest remote cities in the country … someone didn’t do any research since who would work for TIAA in DFW when they have tons of other better options and many of them are remote.

Seems like shutting down Jacksonville and Denver in hopes to fill those roles in Frisco was not the best decision. That and Accenture TIAA is set to lose a wealth of knowledge.

As usual it’s the non management folks who get the shafted and the senior leaders profit while clients and participants suffer.

@g5+1jhpsrcvm What do you mean 2025 mandate to eliminate hybrid.

Charlotte cannot support full time RTO 5 days a week anymore. Denver could have easily supported that even after they moved everyone into fewer floors than they once had occupied to save money from the lease. Frisco can for now but soon will fill up if they can hire anyone there because…

Did you read the OP or other posts saying Frisco is tops in the nation for remote workers? People will revolt and resign in droves. No one wants to be in an office 5 days a week again, especially crammed in like sardines in the biggest hubs of Frisco and Charlotte.

Also the building is bullsh-t! We took a tour of one floor and there was an awful mural painted on the wall of I’m guessing T, made to look like Beyoncé? More of our bonus wasted when TIAA blue paint would’ve done the job. Also the desks are so close that I’m distracted and work better at home. At least in Lewisville the partitions gave some privacy and some collaboration, have you heard some of these folk? They loud af!!!

She must live close by to have the tower constructed, because it makes no sense financially and logistically. At least Lewisville was closer to the airport and had access without tolls. Now this tower is placed in highly congested and expensive area. Also to that commenter who doesn’t like Texans, bless your heart in the MOST TEXAN WAY.

T made a deal with state and local government for incentives to build and occupy Frisco.

The closure of Denver and Jacksonville is part one, the 2025 mandate to eliminate hybrid will also close that gap since full timers will be required to go to a hub location with Frisco being one.

Tollways, cost of livings, expensive houses, high property taxes, hot weather, humidity, bugs and so many competitions in close distance.

It is hard to hire in Frisco because it is a very expensive place to live and TIAA wants to pay 2019 wages.

Other companies in the area are paying more for the same roles.
