Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Are more layoffs coming?

A few individuals received the call on Friday that their position was impacted by the RIFs. Does anyone know how long they will be calling employees to notify them?

Holy smokes, this was on Glassdoor and it is so accurate I could have written it myself.
The no raise for a few years. The forced bad reviews. The RIFs. This review is brilliant and completely accurate (with the exception of the hot job market).

"Management isn't interested in advice from their employees. They know what the problems are and have no intention of correcting them. Know that you are joining a workforce of largely demoralized individual contributors. There are no annual merit increases. Negotiate the best starting salary you can, because you won't see a raise for a few years. Keep in mind you will probably be trained by someone who has done your job for 20 years and your starting pay will be more than they make now, so be nice to this person. Since hardly anyone gets a raise, management motivates with the stick, instead. One person on your team will get a bad review every year...maybe you. It's not because you didn't perform at the same level as your peers, but because HR and your VP told your manager someone has to get one...it's mandatory. It's like that game called "old maid" where there are no winners but one loser get singled out for shame and ridicule. That's an annual review at Lumen. When they do a RIF (and they do them at least once a year) they will get rid of the people at the top of the pay-scale first. The executives call it "getting the most bang for the buck." Many departments have been lobotomized by this practice. You see this and it's no surprise that the stock is down 90% from it's peak 15 years ago. Lumen has achieved their ideal workforce...they don't have to compete to keep them. Not old enough to retire, but old enough where looking for a new job isn't very fun. Again...be nice to these people, they've put up with a lot for a long time while the CEO creates new vice president jobs for her friends and headcount gets chopped every year. They have treated their people this poorly during one of the hottest job markets since the dot-com days...I didn't stick around to see how they will treat them during a recession."

It’s quite simple if you are in a dept losing money and not hitting targets it’s high likely good for a RIF

This will go continue to go on. It’s leadership by not knowing what will work and not work

If you made it through this RIF you are just biding your time until your phone call. Having been at numerous successful companies, Lumen is not one of them, they are sinking, you can stay and wait or take charge of your career.

The calls will keep going on until everyone is notified.

they will probably never stop calling for RIFS until Kate and Co make their millions off of selling the company's assets
