Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is anybody surprised?

Mobileye is seeking autonomy from Intel at all costs

Mobileye's IPO will be the largest ever by an Israeli company, yet it is still disappointing as the company will go public at the same value at which it was acquired by Intel 5 years ago, even though revenues have doubled

Smart people and innovative technology.

Not worth the $15 billion that dufus BK paid for it.

Will not achieve a self driving car that anyone will like. One example -- it will stop for every obstacle in the road. Humans don't. Sure, you stop for the child retrieving a ball in the street. How about a tumbleweed?

Who cares about Mobileye? Nobody cares about autonomous driving. The technology is at least 25 years away from being a reality.

Driverless cars are a pipe dream. All this tech will do is help humans not crash into other cars.

OP -- It is not because of mobileeye is seeking autonomy. It is because Intel is in dire need of money and it will get ~4.4B from IPO.

Mobileye is a fire sale!!! Needed to keep the dividends going till 2025 when there will be decent products to make Intel competitive again and rebound in economy. I think those who survive till 2025 will make it to their retirement.

I am not sure if MBLY is pushing for this. They might have been earlier in the year, but no company wants to go to IPO right now. So I have to imagine that this is completely driven by shoring some cash for tough times to come.

Probably Mobileye would be forced to use IA instead of TSMC for the next gen, so they have to spin off now.
