Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Just wondering...

What is the probability that Intel, after this slashing of jobs, will very soon need these same employees and want them to return to the company? I have heard from some people that this could happen, although I doubt it.

It will be a long time dude. Just look for something else and don't think about returning. They will always be the same.

They’re leaving the option open for rehire - I assume that’s mostly applicable to engineers that lose their jobs.

For SG&A (finance, IT, some HR analyst roles, maybe marketing/sales to a lesser extent) - expect those to be backfilled with labor from low cost geos (Costa Rica, Malaysia, India, etc.)
