Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Let's talk facts

Intel tends to overhire. This creates issues with some teams where there is not enough work to go around. While Intel should not have hired those people in the first place, the fact is they are here and they have nothing to do. That bloat needs to be taken care of. Hopefully, the coming layoffs will do just that.

@ytu. It would be insane for any company to offer VSP to everyone. That just means that you are paying employees to find another job in next few months. Folks who are competent will always take this offer. Because they are getting cash, and they can increase their pay by jumping as they prepare for interviews over next 3-6 months. And all of this is paid and enabled by Intel VSP. Even loyal folks will leave. Because the offer will be too good to pass.

i saw the writing on the wall during covid phase 0. increase in hiring/covid/scaling down the fabs for conversions/build up of new tools. phase 1- more hiring, more scaling down, profits down. intuition told me after more than a decade that it was time to look for something else. left during in summer. i really enjoyed my work/working for intel; it was a hard choice to leave but something was off. sad to see this is happening but not surprised. best of luck to everyone, but keep in mind, if you are offered a VSP, know that YOU are considered a "take it or leave it" option. Meaning, they don't really see you as a valuable asset and if you stay you are just there to perform a "task/job".

Agreed with OP. Furthermore, open the full gate and offer VSP to anyone so in that way not only the "targets" get remove but also anyone that does not want to be part of Intel.

Intel leadership talks about efficiencies and loyalty, well, let's only keep the ones that wants to be part of it that will add value and fill the ranks later on as needed but clean the house the right way and don't do a mediocre job on the layoffs.
