Maybe they’ll realize we don’t need 90% of the transportation managers.. Who are just gloried taxi drivers, they do absolutely nothing
I leave town and go work another job site , when I know those kinds of people are coming to town.
MSK is back dispatching on 2 48.
Welcome back Mathilda
Not paying claims was a sign bad times were ahead due to weak / corrupt unions. How much money did the old timers make off claims? Think about it, a claim was created when management failed to properly manage. Quit paying claims, management quit trying to manage (there was no longer motivation to avoid things that would create a claim) and shifted focus on finding rules violations (abusing employees). With time more and more younger employees quit filing claims and became conditioned to doing more and more as a normal everyday occurrence. I remember dog catching paid a full day everytime you got on a different train. Management was motivated to NOT let crews die. Then those claims quit being paid, alot of guys viewed it a waste of time to file em. Then it became, you show up for 12, you’ll get paid for 12 no matter what we make you do. Now you’ve got trainmen doing car dept work. The downside has barely started recently, fewer and fewer want to work here.
I can see it now, morning meetings at the shop “listen folks we have some VIP’s coming to visit today, your as--s better be on your best behavior if you want a job come next week, also if they ask how the moral is at this shop it’s just FINE, got it? I don’t wanna have to start finding more sh-t to write you guys up about!” Sad thing is, that’s not a joke or exaggeration, at least at my shop.
If they would just pay claims Jesus Christ . I’m in the Northern region claims are denied constantly and all my coworkers are tired of doing favors for no extra pay. Let alone the lack of pay raises. Treat craft employees like they are really part of the team, with respect, and above shareholders and you’ll have the greatest railroad in the country. If railroaders were respected aka craft people we would make this company thrive in ways never seen. We would tell friends, family etc to apply therefore solving the employee shortage. I can’t believe the lack of common sense that these corporate folks lack. Nowadays if you treat your employees poorly they just leave and you then have a problem. The old ways of fear and intimidation don’t work so I’m hoping these folks figure things out soon. Or else the transportation side is going to go in meltdown mode and it’s going to last a long time. I have never seen moral so low with so many people ready to walk away.
Joe Biden is coming too, going to tell us there is no inflation and the economy is strong.
I heard here in SLO they are looking for sidings to stuff the well cars and others into. Economy is slowing. More layoffs?
Fire the execs and MTOs
I wonder what they are looking for? Can they look at the track and see whats wrong w/ it? Are they observing the mood of employees? Are they looking at the property and seeing what condition everything is in? Obviously Lance knew the moves to make with govt lobbying and wall street to pillage this place
fill his and the shareholders pockets. But what do they know about what they see out in the field?
They visited my area last week.
Hopefully someone will leave a tu-d in the punch bowl for them.
On the prowl for what? Maybe they're on the the prowl or maybe they're out doing damage control. The executives know damn well they have a very serious problem, and really shouldn't be seen sitting in their offices doing nothing. Either way, I'll be waiting for them!
