Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Bonus/Merit

I understand that the Medicare lines of business were not as profitable for 2024 with the book of business BUT it doesn’t not mean the company as a whole did not do exceptionally well despite the economic climate. To say little to no AIP and even 2-3% merit is not ok with me. This will not change the Executive bonuses. The company needs to step back and reevaluate where their loyalty lies with their workforce. Anthem used to be the place you go to retire and now it’s a stepping stone or a placeholder. I know the big push this year is offshoring but you know why…because the Executive branch doesn’t want to their cushy bonuses because this doesn’t help our economy or workforce. I’m saddened what Elevance has become. Then this year the sneaky tactics of using workers to train their replacements and then layoff is absolutely uncanny.

Glad that I found this site and agree with all of the above. All the management makes big time yearly bonuses year after year and the staff that actually works with the member population gets the sc--w.

Merit increases have been low for well over a decade. They aren't even enough to be called a cost-of-living increase. This means we're losing spending power as the years go by. Meanwhile the leaders continue to make a mint. They scorn us as if we are rotten, unwanted children. I'm not proud to work here. The only reason I'm making decent $ is because I got lucky. My luck will run out eventually. When it does, I'll hopefully get a job somewhere that doesn't resemble this place one bit.

Yes it shouldn’t be this way. When did it become ok to give a $15 million dollar bonus and then distribute $1,000 to the staff? Where is the honesty, integrity, or even accountability in the Executive Branch?

Anthem hasn't been the place to be for years now and I'm not sure what department your in butthere has been a push for offshoring 10 plus years. Maybe it's just now starting to hit certain areas but it's been going on in claims and other departments for YEARS. I do agree it's very sad what the company has become.

I don’t even care about retiring here anymore. I’m ready to leave. Put my resume together this week. Not waiting to see what crumbs are thrown our way. Do more for less, work with this department but wait no actually go to this market and 50 people later you are still at square one with dinosaur technology trying to put basic information together. Our insurance is terrible.. providers have a very difficult time checking benefits or even locating a good number to reach a live person. If you notice too the salary ranges have drastically decreased on open positions especially CCA under Carelon. I’m over it. I hate that I don’t like working anymore. I use to enjoy my work but it’s not the same. Moral is terrible..too many middle executives clambering for a seat at the bargaining table readily ok to ax all in the way.

Yes I completely agree. How can Elevance not give a decent merit/bonus but at the same time give the Executives these astronomical bonuses…because the bucket is smaller below the VP of Staff’s let that sink in.
