Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Would you quit on a whim?

I’m fed up. It’s been bubbling for months now, and I got to the point that I hate coming to work. I can’t justify the terrible decision-making, bad management, profit-driven mentality, overtime, poor treatment of clients, office politics, tensions within my team—you name it. I’m halfway to quitting every day. I’m even willing to risk being jobless for months. I know this is not entirely rational, and it would be better to look for another job while still employed, but I just can’t stand this job anymore.

Be smart about it. You could have a bonus coming in 2 months. Many more big RIFS coming and you could get a package. I’d probably try to hold off for bonus first and then see if you may be on a RIF list.

I did quit on a whim! The three ladies on my team were b-atches and my manager had the wool pulled over her eyes! No regrets - not one! 10/10 recommend. My mental and physical health improved the day I gave notice.

I worked for Anthem for 11 years total and quit twice without having another job. Just got so fed up and couldn't take it anymore. Almost 5 years later and life is still way better than another minute longer at Anthem. 10/10 would highly recommend.

I would recommend going through the motions, slowing down to regroup and get some of your power back. What’s the worst that can happen, a RIF?

If the offered some kind of severance package for early retirement, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

If you can afford to be without a for at least job 12 months I say do what's best for your health. If you let it this place will drain you mentally and physically. I've seen coworkers develop heart conditions and be hospitalized. I've also personally been effected mental and physically. Get out now if you can.

Do what's best for YOU. Remember, this company would not care if you literally d!Ed. They would post your position the next day to back fill. That's true for all big companies probably, but this place is truly rotten to its core.

Do the “quiet quitting” for a bit, it sure helps mentally.

I’m in the same boat. I am not a whimp by any means, but I’m to the point I cry all day every day. It is the most toxic environment I’ve ever been in. Do what I say, do what I do, walk this way, talk this way.

I wouldn't quit in this job market unless you have enough saved to cover bills for 12 months. I walked away several years ago and took a mental and physical break from working for nine months and it was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I know getting away from the daily stress for that period will add at least 5 years to my life. Otherwise, just do as little at this job as you can get away with and focus on your job search externally. This place appears to be a pit no matter what department you are in....
Take advantage of any training and certifications that you can get this cr-ppy company to pay for while you search for something better.

OP, it all depends on your situation. I've done it and I do not have any regrets.

Hey OP, can you find some contract work to tide you over? Being without a paycheck is worse.

Don’t do it. Find a job first and then quit. The stress of not having a paycheck will be worse than the stress of this job.
