Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Even if ENGINE fails or doesn’t meet the expectations, we will still suffer

They’ll still reorg us out of our jobs, lay us off, or do whatever to reduce the headcount. Those over 50 are dead in the water in any case, because experience and skill are costly. The rest of us can be replaced by out-of-college or otherwise younger, cheaper workforce, or our jobs can be offshored in some fashion. If ENGINE falls short of expectations, we’ll end up picking up the slack. No matter how you look at it, we’re sc--wed.

All the new expat leaders there are just hooking up candidates from their various contacts out there and just trying to hit hiring targets. There is pretty much close to zero consideration for their skills and the type of work they’ll do. It’s just a good ole boys club out there to start. It’ll go great.

This is going to be an absolute cluster-eff over the course of the next decade. I don't deal in engineering, but know that the Wipro staff in India is absolutely incompetent with high turnover.

I've dealt with a new individual every six to nine months and have to explain the same concepts to them again and again. They're too lazy to Google info to look up something as simple as what a futures exchange is.

If this is what it's like dealing with them in finance, we're going to be looking at some major fatalities for large scale projects because of either sheer incompetence or turnover.

This so true. I can't stand when people sit back and say "I can't wait till this bad decision (made by a politician or ELT) comes back and blows up in their face! Then they will learn.". Lol They have already learned... that they will either get out clean with a golden parachute or use the newly created crisis to squeeze you more....

It’s just like California right now!! Incompetent leadership worried about outsourcing jobs instead of taking care of the people that really make this company go!!

And, on top of all of this, within the next 5 years AI will complete the extermination of any form of labor that leverages more or less standardized workflows (looking at you accountant, finance, HR, IT and perhaps design engineers)
