Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

JPMorgan now requiring all employees in office 5 days a week

In other words, we can expect this in another 6-24 months; as historically we lag every leading banks leadership by this time frame, such as 3 day in office returns, and so on. If I weren't near an office, I feel as though I'd be nervous; no real basis for that aside from doing the math on the above news w/ JP Morgan. Thoughts?

We aren't one of those companies people are moving across the company begging to work for if we're being honest; nor is any big bank. Let's take a step back for just one moment. Why limit our talent pool just because of some arbitrary radius imposed on our employees? Seems like a rather dated process in 2025, and more importantly limiting to company growth, to let personal views on employee proximity interfere with potential talent pool reach.

RTO is a strategy to reduce employee numbers. USB will most likely lose highly skilled tech people as there are other companies offering remote roles for them. USB will then replace them with more affordable highly skilled people located in other countries. We are replacing employees today with offshore teams. RTO helps avoid the severance packages the more skilled workers would receive if doing a straightforward layoff. I'd be interested in learning how Andy figures this practice is aligned with the bank's 'core values'. Do the right thing? Nope.

JP Morgan Chase also exited an unattainable net zero banking alliance, which did nothing other than force an ongoing double standard onto lawful businesses which are not favored by woke activists, good for them and the other big banks that see through the hypocrisy to support their banking customers

Seems silly to enforce this on current/future employees while still hiring remote contractors by the dozen.

I’d you’re not close to a Hub, your position will be eliminated, but only if you’re lower than SVP, and only if you’re considered “essential.”

"@av+1jh14x8we Actually phase 2 is to assess non hub employees and whether their positions can be eliminated. They are working on it now."

What is your proof of this?

"To what spaces? We don’t have enough seats in these horrible hubs."

@aw+1jh14x8we Um, there's a real easy way to make room or to reduce the need for it. Think about it.

Well then, there ya go! Only a matter of time now before USB's leadership has this original thought of bringing all employees RTO 5 days a week. By "only a matter of time" I mean about 5 years from now as our leadership thinks at lightning speed ...

It took the d-mbell TOS management 20+ years after agile was invited to have any knowledge about it. These are not smart, intelligent people running this company. They are followers. Distant followers.

U.S. Bank can try to look, act and follow the actions and characteristics of J.P. Morgan Chase, however 800 Nicollet Mall and the RTO hotel seating charade therein, is not 270 Park Avenue nor the occupants of the city block between Park and Madison that supports the multibillion 70 something story behemoth led by America's banker. Leadership matters, some have it, some organizations do not

Yes, new government overload on 1/20/25 wants all Federal employees in 5 days a week and all corporate overlord follow government overlord to please the new king.

We will definitely be back to 5 days a week this year as we will follow the big 5 overlord.

It was nice not having to worry about taking getting stabbed on the train or commuting 2 hours in the freezing snow. It was nice while it lasted.

Thank god I retire this year. Can’t take anymore of this collaboration stuff when I put on my headset and ignore every one in the office since all my teammates work in different locations

Not surprised. With the new corporate overlords taking over the presidential administration for the U.S. expect to see the idea of work/life balance go swirling down the toilet if favor of pushing employees until they break. Cheaper to squeeze the life out of staff and then replace them with a cheaper, maybe offshored automaton or just software automation than to treat employees like human beings who actually deserve to enjoy their lives.

It took a week into 2025 to be RTO 5 days a week. I am not surprised. I believe USB requirement for 5 days in office will be announced soon.
