Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Pay Ratio

I was clicking around on Salary.com to look at the salaries of the executive staff (link here):

and the CEO Pay Ratio caught my eye. I deleted the last name (even though we all know who it is) since you're not supposed to post full names on this site.

For its 2023 fiscal year, ELEVANCE HEALTH INC, listed the following CEO pay ratio data on its annual proxy statement to the SEC.

Something about seeing that last number, the pay ratio, was a gut punch. I know so many dedicated, hard-working associates who are doing their best for a company that doesn't give a sh*t about them. I have also known so many dedicated, hard-working people who have been RIF'd over the past few years. I know it's a free market, capitalism, etc. but it's still demoralizing. We are not valued by the place where we spend a third of our life.

A big wakeup call. Now especially that the Department of Justice is looking into United Healthcare about falsifying Doctor's documents about patients' health conditions. So that they can get higher premiums back from Medicare from the Medicare Advantage plans.
All for profit and these Doctor's get bonuses based on this for most of the Medicare Patients.
Elevance Health is no different. Down in Miami especially with one the companies Health Sun. Big Investigation's going on for this illegal practice of falsifying records to show patients have chronic conditions and they don't. But this is how they get much more money from Medicare for the Medicare Advantage plans. Doctor's also get big bonuses. Billions will be paid back to Medicare and JAIL time. They figured no one would know. Say your good buys now.

So glad for the whistle blowers

In addition to the rumor of massive layoffs in February, there is also rumors of near to no bonus in March. That pours a little more salt in the ratio wound.

Yeah they don’t care. They laid off hundreds of people in the states. To hire people under Carelon global solutions in Philippines to save money. It’s a disaster..and I’m sure more jobs are going that way. From UM to wfm

Shame on our executives including Staff VPs. They care about themselves, their growth and not about the hardworking employees!! These Executives and VPs and Staff VPs don’t deserve any respect and bonuses. They care about their presence and their favorite Vendors- IBM, UST global and Deloitte etc., who fill up the executives and staff VPs pockets and offer free expensive vacations. Health of humanity. huh?

It was 20-40 back in the 80s. CEOs lived in the same neighborhood, just had the nicest house. Now it’s gated with a secret shelter for the apocalypse that they will cause.

It saddens my heart as my colleagues pray for even a thousand dollar bonus as inflation has sored. How do you justify these salaries and bonus at this ratio?
