I’ve been hearing a lot lately about the problems they allegedly have with staffing the ENGINE. Is it true, and if so, how would it reflect on planned reorg and layoffs here? I wouldn’t mind if some of what’s planned here is postponed. It would give us more time to prepare for what’s coming. The job market is not great, and it takes time to find other options.

We have wasted a lot more with cost overruns in FGP and Gorgon and Wheatstone. A bunch of failed projects elsewhere. A $2B dog and pony show that is ultimately wasted with ENGINE over several years is not a big deal.
This will not matter. The plan will proceed. If you’ve ever worked in a society that values nepotism, you will know that above all else, taking care of “your people” is all that matters. Performance and qualifications are secondary. Let’s just call it what it is: BK will ensure ENGINE moves forward, and everyone in senior leadership will nod their heads in approval so as not to be called the r word.
OP, Chevron ain't hiring from top univs in India. They are recruiting @ Jadavpur university (which is a C or D grade university). I doubt any Indian working in Chevron USA is from Jadavpur university. If you hire monkeys for ENGINE, you can pay them peanuts.
No one in India knows Chevron. We don’t sell anything in India.
Shell has 10,000 gas stations in India. They have been in India for decades.
Mobil 1 is a top brand in India. They are in India since 1980.
BP has Castell brand and gas stations in India.
Imagine you are new grad out of top school - why would you join Chevron? It’s like graduating from college here and being recruited by Adani.
WTF is Adani ? Only the richest Indian company, but you have no clue.
In India, brand matters. If you have to explain to your family what Chevron is, the family laughs at you, asking “why, you didn’t get a job in any nice company that you got job in this Cheapron?”
Also, then you will never get good boy or girl to marry because you work for no-brand company.
It doesn’t help if on top you pay tiny amount and have no office. You will attract the C-grade college students and experienced hires who failed at other companies.
Of course, we still went about this venture and we will claim it to be successful. Yet another wastage of $Billions. Bunch of id--ts - we are
The knew that going in and our competitors are having problems too. The reductions are coming regardless. They don't even have office space yet, under construction - so this a slow longer term project.
Leadership would never admit failure. They'll hire unqualified people and fake it as long as they have to while pretending that it's a complete success.
Who is OP?
Thank you! Come again.
The resume lists watching Landman as a qualification for industry experience.
Nice try OP, I'm still going to proceed with the planned lay-offs.

$40k equivalent isn't attracting the top tier of talent huh? Shocked
Yes..true. They are not finding truly qualified candidates for the positions. Also, they are finally discovering that India and very much so that region is not allowing for "cheaper" labor any longer. I have heard that salaries are being rejected due to being too low. Mind you even with some being "experienced" hires, I'm sure we'll have to train them on how CVX does things.
Cut the trees down, they’re dead anyways.
The new trees will grow eventually
Do you think Chevron is their top choice of employment?
Reeeeeeorgs and Laaaaaayoffs regardless
