I don't see why Intel should keep workers they have determined they don't need? Why are people taking it so personally. Demand is down right. It's time to trim the fat. Don't bring politics into this. It make your look pretty and bitter.
@bxh+1jgrkelq 100% agreed plus a bonus of liquidating and\or consolidating some US real state and move some of it to OH, OR, and AZ close to the new fabs. All win-win and calculated.. nothing new and people should not be surprised since this has been in the making since we went above and beyond the 100k HC mark... Same cycle every 6-7 years...
If you survive the past cuts, count your blessings and get your golden handshake and move to greener pastures. I know I am and can't wait for it.. My bags are ready so now we milk the cow(extra payroll checks) for few more weeks or even mid-Q4 until all is done...

@qub+1jgrkelq My VP outright admitted that HC actions will effect primarily US workers, with limited impacts in low cost geos.
I have absolutely zero doubt that once the dust settles, hiring continues to be focused on low cost geos for support roles (IT, Marketing and sales, HR, Finance, software dev roles). Basically, if your work can be done remotely (which many of us proved it can be during Covid), why would they pay you $130k USD when they can pay someone in Asia $30-50k USD to do the same work?
Even if we survive this round; unless we work IN the physical fabs or directly supporting them in a tangible way that requires butts in seats on site, US and EU worker’s roles will be under continued pressure for the foreseeable future, either through additional “re-orgs” or via attrition (replacing US attrition with cheap labor).
Just my opinion
Takes American taxpayer cash, rapidly turns around and lays off tons of Americans. Strong suspicion that low cost geo hiring will continue unabated.
Insult to injury is those workers are taxpayers that owe that money given to the corps, most of them wanted it!
