It is the last work from home day tomorrow. Hopefully you enjoy it and are extra productive.

The people who arrive at 6:30 (they're already parked before 7) and take a 30 minute lunch (which is allowed per policy) can leave at 4 having worked a 9 hour day. So an expectation that they still be around at 5pm is definitely expecting "more" than they're required to give
In an unofficial survey taken by me, the people I park next to upon arrival at 7am in the morning, 90% of them are already gone when I leave at 5pm. So we may be in the office, but hard to get people to work more if there are no call outs or consequences.
Ironic. . . . don't ya think?
Now due to a weather event they want us to work from home. Quick poll, will you be working from home on this snow day?
Pushback on accountability speaks volumes. Hopefully more good decisions will follow including a return to basics and zero basing the workforce.
Agree. The hypocrisy of this organization is damming. Just bend the goal post whenever convenient starting with Covid. Guess that’s what you get when everything is run by by a bunch of woke monkey suit wearing- brief case carrying boomers. I don’t disagree that the great progressive ideals of MLK were deserving of a week, not a single day. Cheers!
We were told beginning Jan 6 work could not be done from home at all any longer. I’ve been informed by the ELT that if schools are closed so are laptops per the new policy.
For many, WFH = vacation day.
Unfortunately there were a few rotten apples that highlighted how many people were taking advantage of the system, which ended up being a good reason to shut it down.
MRO learned a long time ago that it was a terrible idea to revoke the primary component people joined the company for. That was LTI for over 50% of the company. Seems COP and MRO are a match made in heaven, this will all end well. There’s never any consequences to reverse benefits. Better to not ever have had a benefit to begin with than remove it.
I have children who have always known me to be visible at some point throughout the day in their memories. It is a sad day for my 8 year old. For me, I love the office but I hate getting here. The 3+ additional hours a week dedicated to sitting in my vehicle on my commute is a waste of my most valuable personal resource - my time.
I don't know about this day drinking or getting off early thing but getting holier than thou vibes. Some (many) of us are mourning the loss of flexibility ESPECIALLY with regards to the hours we'll be spending sitting in traffic.
I was in the office full time since the beginning. I mustn't have been the only one that noticed that it was basically impossible to get a good response from HOW'ers on Wednesday or Fridays. I guess the days of sleeping in, finishing early and or day drinking have come to an end. Boohoo!
Makes it easier to lay people off if we’re all in the same place. Something to look forward to.
In these two seconds I'm looking forward to the crossdisciplinary synergies we can capture and what else we can leverage in our SPIRITual path towards optimal collaboration whilst firming up new technologies, strategies. Cheers all!
Maybe now my manager will decide to come to work more frequently. For the past two years, i honestly don’t think I’ve seen him at the office any more than 10-15 minutes per week. Sure, he’s had the excuse of “working” from home on Wednesdays and Fridays, but where in the heck has he been on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays???
It has been a great run, and I enjoyed our HOW program very much. It will be an adjustment 5 days in-office. However, we are all in this together.
I can't wait to see how many leaders actually follow the guidelines as well. I know few in the IT side have been enjoying "working" remote.
