I used to try hard to have an excellent performance and all I got in return was even more work to do. Now that I don't put in nearly as much effort anymore, but have prioritized looking for a new job, I actually feel more valued. What's the point of having a great performance here? From my experience - there is none.

It’s been that way quite awhile. There is little to no differentiation between someone exceeding all metrics and doing extra duties in their office and someone doing the bare minimum. Maybe half a percentage point raise. Either leave for a company that rewards through raises and or incentive comp, or be happy where you are, but do bare minimum. By the way, each leader has their own budget. The person managing the leader is supposed to benchmark across their office to ensure high performers stand out. However, the office leaders don’t really even know their employees very well now that we are virtual. So, if you think you’re being fairly compared vs peers in other units, think again.

Mid to late 90's performance bonus was 5% to 8% on average. This was for employees doing the job properly and not generating customer complaints. Then the system started to become rigged more and more every year. What the expectations were vs what reality was became further and further apart. Once transformation started or the dumpster fire mentality it was obvious that only a select few employee's were on the "list" for pay increase. The "list" was decided by the supervisors and favored all the nosers and a$$ kissers. Performance had very little to do with it. Your performance numbers are manipulated by so many outside influences and blatant disregard for truth and honesty. Out of reach metrics, out of touch supervisors, delusional upper management. Total fraudulent process making it seem not one of us is capable a settling a claim by the book when the book changes constantly and most direct supervisors cant keep up with the changes. Working amongst the mushrooms being fed a pile of manure.
Inside secret…managers are given a % of how many on their team is BTE, expected and inconsistent. So if there are multiple high performers on the team, someone is going to lose out.
My manager told me that my cost of living raise was higher than a promotion raise would ever be. I do enough to get the job done.
When the raise you get with a BTE (or even a promotion) doesn't keep up with inflation, why bother?

Honestly the reason I think performance isn't valued at allstate is so they don't have to give better than expected raises. So they want to rate most people inconsistent.
