I haven't been here long, but I got advice from a colleague not to exhaust myself too much and not to expect much from this place. The worst thing would be to work really hard during the holiday season, and then get cut.
It is not my intention to cause panic because I have absolutely no information, but I am interested in what you think, will there be big cuts after the holiday season?

This company is always full of surprises, ISM and now inventory incentive pay. What else is next?! 🤔
That's true inventory is going to be a total nightmare, colleagues will be working probably a 10 or 12 hours overnight shift each day. This company knows that because this year there's going to be less hiring for seasonal colleagues. No wonder this company is paying a extra $5 per hour, this never happen before. This inventory is going to be a disaster waiting to happen.
Inventory is going to be a disaster. Stockrooms exploding with summer last act merchandise from floor to ceiling. New merchandise and Toys coming in sitting on racks and cages on the selling floor due to no space or room to place them because of all the summer markdowns and last act still on the floor
The trucks keep coming, nobody is buying so you can not transition a floor.
What company have you ever heard of offering people an extra $5 per hour just to do a job expectation? (Inventory)
Sadly it will still not be enough. Is it worth $40 extra to deal with that headache? No Thank you.
Anybody with a brain is not going to volunteer, in turn you will have to schedule people who will just call out and nothing will happen to them because who is paying attention and holding anyone accountable to reliability anyways?
And good luck to you if you have a backstage in your location because that is the biggest nightmare of it all. Colleagues scanning the wrong barcode, Sku Reject pages that take hours to research (Not kidding)
This time inventory in our store is going to be different. Management just notify the employees that inventory starts on January 5th. This time employees who wants to work on inventory are going to get paid a extra $5 dollars per hour, current employees and seasonal employees. Employees who wants to work on inventory needs to go on Insite and logged in.
If you have 25+ you shouldn't work for them again. But at the same time they wouldn't be hiring you.
Well it all depends on your store, your managers, and your co-workers. how's that for vagueness. I agree, DON'T ki-l yourself over this job. You'll not receive recognition. Your managers just want you to show up for your shift. Your co-workers are all dead end lifers who expect you to be gone for another job. They won't help you. If you find you like it, make it work. If you stay flexible, they'll keep you on. Just be prepared to get fewer hours after the holidays. My cred... I worked for Macys for 25+ years before my "forced" retirement in 2020. No, I'd never work for them again.

Yup we go through this every single year.
Every January there's cuts after inventory, before the new fiscal year in February. It been happening for almost 2 decades.
In June of 2020, a lot of people were laid off and they still don’t know why.
