Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Will new grad offers be recinded?

Joining this January as a L5 SWE with no other offers, scared to death what the future holds.

If you are under 30 and do not have family commitments, you have nothing to worry about. You can fall but you will be able to get up and move in no time. Intel is not a bad company to start your career but I would strongly encourage to get experience elsewhere as well after spending 3 year at Intel (max 5 years)

Intel does look after its employees but it is a very tough employer in terms of getting promoted. This is a particularly hard problem for people at grade levels 7 and up. You will get promoted if you are well-connected within the company. I know people who have left Intel and came back after 1-2 years to bump up their grade levels. If you work in manufacturing chips, you are in the safest position at Intel. Any other business area in the company is prone to significant budget cuts and headcount reductions almost on a periodic basis.

No other offers, feel bad for ya bro!

No other offers in this low employment and labor short environment, what is your failure that nobody but Intel hired ya?

No wonder Intel future is assured, look who got hired!

Go with your feelings and leave!!

Intel May have been great I. The past, gets a lot of press these days with Messiah Pat.

Trust me he is leading Intel to he-l.

Leave while you are young and still have talent

Don’t start your career off at intel, you’ll regret it. Take your time and find a decent company to give your time to.

They will do you a favor if they pull the offer. There are so many other good companies. I saw a news segment where Intel hires stay home moms with zero experience.

Yes, they will rescind. Otherwise, how does intel justify layoffs?

Any & all offers are subject to being rescinded.

Intel is a company so far up its own a-s, that nothing they say can be taken as anything other than pure sh-t-talking.

If Intel is your only offer (and for sure it'll be a sh-t offer) take it, but keep actively interviewing.

Don't worry. I assure you that Intel always discriminates against older employees. Just google Intel discriminates against older employees.
