Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford's leadership is simply a disgrace

Bill Ford will face the shame of eliminating loyal employees based on age and the family's disgusting greed to save a few dollars by not paying pensions.
Keep terminating, laying off, ' involuntary seperation ' all the employees that got the company through difficult times. They are being snapped up by Chinese companies, real tech companies ( i still laugh over the id--t Mark Fields calling Ford a tech company ) and GM ( Jay Leno said it best, its a car company run by people who understand how to build cars ). Folks out of college barely last 2-4 years before leaving for another company and taking with them plenty of knowledge and so-called secrets. Continue to hire rejects from Apple and Tesla and Google and HP. I hate this company, you hurt some really good people. Over the last few years how many tens of thousands have been laid off/ separated/ terminated, now think about where they are and how word spreads how people are treated at FMC.

OP lays this out really well. The original is at @xvr+1jbqd4b8.

Who else can recall the seasoned CFO who retired warning about

  • taking short term actions that negatively impact long term company health
  • levering up with cheap loans
  • accounting practices that claimed high values for unproven investments
  • claiming a manufacturing company was a data/high tech company to attract investment money, that would pull out when they realized that Ford is a manufacturing company

Who remembers the eye rolls of the cool execs; the yelling done by the now CEO when his proposals were shown to be financial losers; the gamesmanship of the execs to oust the rational CFO.

Never could understand why Bill always sided with the spendthrift fools. There must of been pre-meetings where the decisions were made, and thereafter all evidence to the contrary was ignored.

After reading this forum and the various comments, it is pretty clear that Bill Ford is the root of the problem with the company. In my opinion, he has let his excessive politics get in the way of making proper business decisions. I really don't think he has the capacity to run the company any longer.

Epic leadership failure.
The leadership surrounds itself bobble heads. Those who do not engage in the back slapping, high fiving, gratuitous applause are encouraged to leave the company / marginalized / fired.
There is an illusion that leadership is bringing in external viewpoints and expertise, but observing closely they are bringing in slick bobble heads. Push out people with critical thinking skills, bring in rear end kissers.
Ford leadership hubris and group think is sinking the company.

It is Hackett all over again. We all watched him cozy up to BF for years, listened to what he wanted, and then manipulated BF into believing he believed the same things and could deliver those things for BF. The lobbying paid off handsomely as he was installed as CEO.
Epic failure

Then we watched JF cozy up to BF daughter, who then assisted JF in cozying up to BF. Then the manipulation game continued, JH was fired and JF began his destructive reign.
Epic failure

Tee up DF who from day 1 has been manipulating his way to his dream of being CEO.
Epic disaster looming

IDK how BF and the Ford family can be so gullible. What happened to old Henry Ford I’s business acumen, engineering acumen and common sense?

mbn+1jctcxTf You must like kool aid? For one the poster of this heading is referring to people who when they were hired into the Oval were promised certain benefits and job security.
GO ahead and believe the FABRICATED press clippings for BF & JF? Name something JF has done in his career? We know he is not a product guy. But he thinks he is. BF people forget he was once the president and CEO between 01-06. He was basically fired by his own family. This latest venture with the train station is a pure example of corporate waste.
The press gives BF a pass but any investor with a brain would be calling for him to step aside. his only qualification is the name on the side of the building.
Doug Fields. when I see his resume i see a man who hops around quite a bit. So, the jury is out on him for now.
So, wander why people are concerned. When you have a person running the company who has "ZERO" qualifications or successful projects he can hang is big hat on.
He is not a leader not even close to the definition. He is arrogant & a liar.
In the one week in February with the initial bonus announcement he & his management team did more damage to morale than Nassar did in the late 90's.
with the way that whole week went. Especially JF comments about older workforce not trainable. Gee since he has done nothing but be a bobblehead does he fall into that category?
