Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Mistakes keep repeating

After the big layoffs in 2016, the company employed too many people when the situation started to improve, without realizing that it was employing too many people. Then the cuts happen again. Just as Intel's approach to layoffs is wrong, the approach to hiring is also wrong. Just saying.

Re: “culling … every 5-6 years”. That strategy has worked out well for Intel (see the stock performance for the last 20 years). They’re a horrible company with a terrible culture. I got the boot in ’16 because I was older/”expensive” (relatively) and because of my clueless incompetent manager. A lot of good people got canned then, and there were a lot of incompetents left working there. It’s no surprise at all the company is where it is 6 years later. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.

Why mistakes all comes to failed BoD selecting failed leadership pursuing wrong strategy.

Execution without strategy is aimless

Without execution strategy is useless

Intel has been both useless and aimless the past decade and half

They purposely do this. First they bring in newer, younger, cheaper employees that are hungry. Then they implement layoffs and SPs to cull the herd of the older/expensive/unmotivated and/or poor performing employees. This is all by design...every 5-6 years.
