How? How they always do, by getting rid of people they don't like. Look, most of the middle managers have no real world experience, they are pompous and narcissistic. If you are a good person, you're gone.
Every single organization from LTD, Design, IT, FSM, Assembly, Test, you name it is overhead count compared to competitors or any financial metric.
Duh, every section and business unit will need to cut huge to get Intel close and they will still fail as their strategy is flawed.

Anybody let go is “targeted”. What exactly is the confusion?
Basically he said that every group is looking at cost structure to support the new foundry model. The development is too expensive, the production is too expensive and comparisons to competitors show that we have waste. This website is full of examples of people calling out examples but he doesn’t mention any. He emphasize the use of redeployment and reallocation of some resources and he also mentioned supporting people that would leave. “Targeted actions” means it’s likely not a percentage across all groups. That means it will be based on new budget targets.
Lazy fellows at Intel don’t even bother to find out who is the right ‘target’…. They will ask a DB guy to run a queryand give them the names. Remember ACT?

Say's need to reduce cost and improve margin. After quarterly we have all hands meeting and that's where they will discuss detail. For now two weeks of will it be me. I hate working here and need to get the he-l out of here ASAP.
